🇪🇺 Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness - European Commission

Earlier today, I joined Bloomberg to talk about the European Commission proposal for the next #EUbudget (#MFF). Together with Liza Burden, Anna Edwards & Mark Cudmore, we discussed how this budget puts #people at the centre. 📍A clear baseline: €100 billion for direct investment in people – education, employment & support for the most vulnerable. At least 14% of national & regional plans will go social! We also touched on: ✅ Boosting EU competitiveness ✅ Building future-proof skills ✅ Investing in people to build a resilient Europe! • As Europe undergoes green, digital, and demographic transitions, and faces numerous challenges in areas such as security, investing in people is crucial.   💶 Yesterday, the European Commission presented its long-term budget for 2028-2034, amounting to almost €2 trillion. It will help protect European citizens, strengthen Europe's social model and make our European industry thrive.   It is essential to improve the lives of people across Europe by: 🎯 Supporting quality employment and fair transitions 🎯 Promoting social inclusion and equality 🎯 Balancing between economic integration and social support   Together, we’re building the EU that is more inclusive, resilient and competitive for all Europeans.   Check our factsheet for more info on the budget for social & skills ↓   #ThePowerOfTogether

🇪🇺 Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness - European Commission

🇪🇺Today, the European Commission adopted its proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034) — a €2 trillion budget for a new era. A budget that is larger, smarter and sharper. A budget that reflects Europe’s ambition, confronts its challenges, and strengthens our independence. Above all, it’s a budget that delivers for #people. We succeeded in keeping a strong social ambition through: 🔷a dedicated Regulation for the European Social Fund (ESF+); 🔷at least €100 billion in social investments through the National and Regional Partnership Plans; 🔷an additional 50 billion corresponding to the Social Climate Fund Allocation. 📍In the new #MFF, Erasmus+ gets stronger because learning mobility & capacity building are key for a more competitive, attractive and resilient Europe! It will support #UnionofSkills & European Education Area - to build life competences, basic and advanced skills Europe needs for the future. This is Europe investing in its people. 🔷A new integrated fund: #AgoraEU — doubling support to €8.6 billion for culture, media, democracy, and fundamental rights, by bringing together Creative Europe, MEDIA, and Citizens, Equality, Rights & Values (CERV). This #MFF supports the foundations of the #UnionofSkills, empowers citizens, and invests in the Europe we want to build together!
