How can #EUTransport and #EUTourism support Ukraine’s long-term resilience? 💙 💛
Deputy Director-General Maja Bakran attended the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome to explore how we can help drive Ukraine’s recovery.
The main takeaways 👇
💠 Enhancing transport links between the EU and Ukraine is a top priority. This goes beyond roads and railways: we are investing in corridors to create prosperity, peace, and progress.
💠 #SolidarityLanes are building infrastructure for Ukraine's future in Europe.
💠 Ukraine is now fully embedded into the #TEN_T and benefits from four European Transport Corridors, better connecting Ukraine with the EU.
💠 We will provide further support under #CEFTransport: €76 million to develop a European standard gauge connection from Poland to Lviv, thus leveraging a total of €152 million of investment for accelerated border checks and improved railway interoperability.
💠 In addition, several key road border crossing points are being upgraded to offer more capacity and better controls through new equipment, including rebuilding of facilities and access routes between Ukraine, Moldova and the EU.
💠 Culture and tourism are critical to Ukraine’s social and economic renewal. Recovery will take time, but culture and tourism can bring life back to its cities, confidence back to its people, and growth back to its economy.
We will continue to stand by Ukraine – every step of the way.
