Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

About us

At Make-A-Wish® America, we are more than a great place to work – our work is life-changing. We are an inclusive and diverse group of people who, through a mosaic of backgrounds, thoughts and experiences, are united in purposeful work. We are fueled and guided by our values – values that are represented in the inspired people we work with and the transformational work we do, every day. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in the U.S. and in 50 countries worldwide. More than 40 years ago the inspiration for Make-A-Wish began with one little boy’s wish to be a police officer. Today, together with our volunteers, donors, staff and supporters, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 500,000 life-changing wishes and transformed countless lives worldwide. There is nothing more powerful than making a child’s wish come true. And at Make-A-Wish, we will stop at nothing to ensure every eligible child received a life-changing wish. We believe – and research shows – that a wish gives kids the resilience, courage and strength they need to fight their critical illnesses. A wish doesn’t signify an end or one happy moment in time … a wish truly has the power to transform lives. This is why wishes matter. This is Make-A-Wish. Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

  • Joseph lives with a nervous system disorder that impacts nearly every part of his life, including his ability to speak, move and play. But when he discovered drag racing, it gave him motivation to enjoy his new favorite activity – going to the racetrack. “The only downfall with drag racing is that sometimes he can’t even see the races because people block his view,” said Paola, Joseph’s mom. His wish? A fully accessible golf cart, so he could better navigate the track, have the best view of every race and truly feel part of the action. 🏁 “This golf cart has been such a blessing. It’s been amazing to see how much excitement and happiness his wish has brought to his life. He’s able to participate and be involved, which helps him feel more confident.” – Paola 💙 This #DisabilityPrideMonth, we celebrate wishes like Joseph’s that helped make his favorite activity more accessible.

  • Did you know that granting wishes can help improve a child’s quality of life, giving them a better chance of recovery? At just 8 years old, Claire was diagnosed with stage four cancer. To get through her hospital stay, she imagined walking on a beach and collecting seashells. 💙 When her wish finally arrived, she stepped on the very beach she had pictured. Claire’s wish marked a milestone — how far she has come and all the beautiful moments still ahead. ✨ “This wish was the celebration trip of a lifetime.” – Tiffany, Claire’s mom

  • A wish can be life-changing for a child fighting a critical illness – giving them the strength and hope they need to persevere. This summer, you can create brighter days for wish kids like Mary Alice, whose love for horses influenced her heartfelt wish – to go to a dude ranch in Colorado! 🦋🌿 Summer should be a time of joy for children – and because of supporters like you, Mary Alice was able to experience the joy of riding a horse for the first time with her family. • Wish kid Bryce is a fighter with a big laugh and an even bigger heart. 💙 Bryce lives with sickle cell disease, and his wish gave him a moment to just be a kid. A win, as his dad puts it, “Because when my son laughs, when my son is happy, we are reminded of the challenge that he’s overcome.” Today, on Juneteenth and World Sickle Cell Awareness Day, we’re honoring how wishes uplift the lives of the children and families we serve. Every child deserves the chance to experience joy, hope, and possibility.

  • We’re honored to celebrate the incredible impact of the Subaru of America Share the Love Event. Thanks to Subaru and its generous community, more than $3.1 million was raised to help grant life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses. Because of this support, thousands of wish kids are closer to seeing their wishes come true. Since the beginning of our partnership, Subaru has donated over $38 million and helped make more than 3,900 wishes possible. Thank you, Subaru, for showing that every mile can lead to something magical. 🩵
