This week, we had the honor of hosting our annual St. Jude NextGen Experience, welcoming the next generation of changemakers to St. Jude. Through St. Jude NextGen, college students and educators from across the country visit @St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and ALSAC to learn about our innovative fundraising model and the lifesaving mission that drives everything we do. We are deeply grateful for the passion and energy this group brings. With their support, we’re building a brighter future — together — for children everywhere.

About us
ALSAC is the largest healthcare-related charity in the United States. Founded in 1957 by Danny Thomas, our sole mission is to raise the funds and awareness needed to operate and maintain St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®. While our headquarters can be found in Memphis, Tennessee, we have additional offices in more than 30 locations across the country and in Puerto Rico with positions in fundraising, marketing, digital, information technology, legal, finance and many other disciplines all supporting our lifesaving mission - Finding cures. Saving children. ® At ALSAC, we believe in hiring the best and brightest from around the globe, and in 2020 we were named #1 on Fast Company's 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators. With a concerted focus on diversity and inclusion, we value and respect the contributions of all of our employees. Our work environment encourages everyone to be their authentic selves as we strive together towards a day when “no child dies in the dawn of life.” As we look to the future, we understand that we must be relentlessly innovative. Our work helps fuel the groundbreaking research and treatment at St. Jude and ensures that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. In the passing of Mr. Frederick W. Smith, we have lost a true friend of the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. All of us at St. Jude and ALSAC are deeply saddened by the passing of an advisor, a former Board member, and a relentless champion for our mission. Mr. Smith’s support and guidance for more than four decades has impacted the lives of children and families around the world in so many ways - - especially in how he steadfastly believed that the PGA TOUR event in Memphis, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, should serve a greater purpose by also raising awareness for our mission. For that, we will forever be grateful. Mr. Smith was a true visionary who transformed business on a global scale, as well as our beloved home city of Memphis. We will miss him greatly. Our thoughts are with his family as we all mourn his loss. Our National Outreach Director, Marlo Thomas, said: “My dad loved Fred Smith and treasured the relationship they built together. Dad always said how much he and St. Jude benefited from Fred’s good heart and wisdom over the years. Our Thomas family is deeply saddened to lose this strong warrior for the children and so grateful, too, for his profound impact on us all. We send our love and empathy to his dear family. God bless his soul.”
