The moderator tool's page state:

It takes 3 votes, minimum, to delete a closed question. However, the number of delete votes required scales to the number of votes on the question and all its answers.

However, I've just placed the 5th delete vote on this -3 question:
How ChatGPT Implements Auto-Scroll to Top on New Messages

Is this new? I can't find a meta question about it.

Also, when it had 4 votes, the hovertip said one more delete vote was needed. Could someone who hasn't voted yet check what the hovertip (if any) says.

Now on 8 deletes and still not gone. At least one spam post is also now stuck in "locked" state, maybe a more general problem with delete?

This spam question is also not getting deleted stackoverflow.com/q/79681561/72178. Is it the same problem?

On the tools page which shows the most recent delete votes and how many are still needed it has -5, so -5 votes until it reaches 3 :-) i.sstatic.net/M6mwSOPp.png The system is at least aware that there are already more votes than normally needed.

@ks1322 might be related, but that has been happening a couple more times lately

I thought the "idownvotedbecau.se" comments were blocked by the site? Similar to LMGTFY comments.

Now at 15 delete votes, I do wonder is the specific linked question is really that bad that we need to cast so many delete votes on it? It seems like it would be an on-topic question (perhaps adding some images to show what they mean might improve it). Commented Jun 27 at 8:18

@AbdulAzizBarkat I don't think it needed even one. The question needs to be closed, sure, but I do agree with you that there is no need to rush deleting it. It's theoretically improvable. And if not improved, the Roomba would deal with it.

@AbdulAzizBarkat Re "What's astounding to me is people continued to feel that it needed delete votes ...": Isn't it obvious from the comment threads on this post that pretty much every delete vote from the 4th onwards was an experiment? People have explicitly said as much in the comments here.

@VLAZ I was referring to a specific comment from Abdul. Apologies, I should have been clearer in my response (which I've now edited). As for the original delete votes, absolutely, it's just one of those overly eager deletions. (Possibly exacerbated by the chatgpt bit, but I can't speak to that).

@AbdulAzizBarkat this is how Meta works. We're 1) trying to see if it's just a temporary glitch 2) curious if we can break the record of number of delete votes on a single post.

This is fixed now.

This was apparently caused by a SQL deadlock caused by a query that has been running (but sleeping) for hours. I don't know much more, maybe our DBREs can find out more later.

But for now I've killed the pod from which the problematic connection was initiated, and as soon as I did that, the deletions succeeded.

That's modern IT for you. It was probably a single button affair to kill the pod which is way easier to do than kill the database connection :)
