MANE’s Perfumer Julie Massé leads workshop at Xuelei Fragrance Museum opening To celebrate the opening of the Xuelei Fragrance Museum in Guangzhou, China, Julie Massé led the museum’s first-ever Master Perfumer Workshop. The event also marked the 13th session of the Xuelei Perfume Academy and brought together many international perfumers, including MANE Perfumer Maxime Exler.   Julie shared her creative process and unveiled the eight bespoke fragrances she had crafted for the workshop, addressing themes such as nature, culture and emotions. On 9 July, the Xuelei Fragrance Museum officially opened its doors in Guangzhou, China. Opening ceremony attendees included Denis Raffaud, MANE China Managing Director; shine shi, Fine Fragrance Category Director, MANE China; and MANE Perfumers Maxime Exler and Julie Massé. The space features over 300 immersive olfactory experiences, blending global fragrance history, interactive installations, raw material showcases, and cutting-edge technologies. We are delighted to have contributed to this landmark project. Maxime Exler and Julie Massé created playful scent compositions that are showcased throughout the museum, encouraging multisensory exploration. We are also proud to announce that Julie Massé has received the honour of being permanently featured on the museum’s Wall of Perfumers. The first MANE perfumer to earn this distinction, Julie is known for her iconic narrative-driven creations. She is also a passionate supporter of the Chinese fragrance sector. Celebrating the future of inclusive beauty and fashion Last week, MANE and Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) organised the first Inclusive Beauty & Fashion Day, bringing together leaders, researchers, and industry professionals to explore how diversity is reshaping the beauty and fashion industries. The day was filled with insightful discussions, powerful testimonies, and a shared vision for a more inclusive future, highlighting that: - Collective action drives change: by working together, we can inspire meaningful transformation across the industry. - Education is essential: raising awareness and fostering understanding are at the heart of the MANE X IFM Chair’s mission. This event marked a key milestone in our ongoing commitment to inclusion. In June 2024, MANE and IFM launched a 3-year Diversity & Inclusion in Beauty Chair, dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and redefining beauty standards. MANE and PyD hold an inspiring perfumery workshop at URJC in Madrid   On 25 June, MANE and Perfumes y Diseño (PyD) held a full-day workshop entitled El Perfume en la Moda: Historia, Estilo, Marca y Cultura [Perfume in Fashion: History, Styles, Brands and Culture].   The event was organised by Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), a leading academic institution in Madrid, Spain with a strong focus on science, innovation, and promoting arts and culture.   The day started with an engaging olfactory workshop led by Anaïs Paillard, Fragrance Development Coordinator at PyD, with the participation of Julien Gauthier, Assistant Perfumer at MANE. During the workshop, students got to better understand the process behind fragrance creation and explored new scents through a selection of ingredients provided by MANE.   In the afternoon, Julien Gauthier gave an inspiring talk on green perfumery, underlining the importance of sustainability and innovation in our industry. He introduced students to GREEN MOTION™, MANE’s tool for assessing the environmental impact of fragrance compositions. MANE will be participating in the first ever Grasse Perfume Week, which will take place in Grasse, the epicentre of the fragrance world, from 3 to 5 July. MANE Fine Fragrance Perfumer Benjamin Bélizon and neuroscientist Dr Valentine Brémond will be giving the Smell Talk in French entitled ‘Peau, Odeur et Parfum’ [Skin, Scent and Perfume] on Friday, 4 July at 4pm at Grasse Campus. Together they will explore the ways in which our skin’s natural scent influences perceived attractiveness and affects how fragrance changes on the skin. This event presents a unique opportunity to delve into the mechanisms of scent and skin chemistry in the perfume capital of the world.
