Really enjoyed Kids Day at Pinterest. As a dad, I loved having my daughter join me for creative activities alongside the children of many of our team members. Her favorite moment? The Pinterest Collage tutorial, where she created a “Labubu-themed” masterpiece (see below!). For me, the highlight was the Digital Wellness event for employees’ older kids - our team walked them through how to set privacy settings on their devices, how to turn off notifications and how to set focus time for off-screen activities like dinner with family or playing sports with friends.  The whole day reminded me and so many of my colleagues why we love working here. It was a nice reminder, too, of why we’re so proud to prioritize issues like youth safety online, mental health, and workplace flexibility.  When we fight for safe, positive spaces on the Internet and beyond, we make the world better for the next generation.

Today, we released our first-ever Men’s Trend Report to explore how men are using Pinterest. Male users now represent more than one-third of our global audience and they’re saving with intention – whether they’re searching for pilates outfits, healthy hair routines, 3D printer designs, investment apps or family milestone pictures. Read the full trend report and discover a special board curated by actor and MOSH co-founder, Patrick Schwarzenegger: https://lnkd.in/eSzRguJy To support this growing audience, we’re also introducing the Pinterest Man profile – a new dedicated space for men to find style, wellness and lifestyle inspiration and shop the trends. Until now, we have been in the Napster phase of AI. Content from creators and publishers is being used to train Generative AI models without their permission or receiving compensation. We have not yet seen the iTunes or Spotify model for AI - one where creators and publishers receive a clear exchange of value for their content when used for GenAI. That’s why Pinterest is proud to support Cloudflare’s new model that works to ensure content creators can choose whether and how GenAI companies use their content. The new model also distinguishes GenAI crawlers, where there is little to no expectation of traffic, from search crawlers that are used to help drive traffic to creators and publishers. Today’s announcement reaffirms that Pinterest stands firmly behind creators and publishers, and we’ll continue to work tirelessly to ensure their content is used as they intended, while making the most of AI’s transformative power. In 2023, Pinterest became the first major platform to make accounts for users under 16 private-only. Many predicted this would put us out of favor with Gen Z, and yes - our stock took a hit. But for us, doing the right thing for our youngest users mattered more than following the crowd. Fast forward to today: Gen Z now makes up more than 40% of our global community and are our largest, fastest growing demographic. We consistently hear from them that Pinterest feels like “an oasis away from toxicity.” It turns out building a platform around positivity and wellbeing isn’t just good for people – it’s good for business, too. We didn’t get here by accident. While much of the tech industry optimized for attention at all costs, we made a choice to prioritize long-term wellbeing over short-term metrics – and we stuck with it, even when it wasn’t popular. I’m proud that Pinterest is proving it’s possible to grow by putting people first, especially the next generation. There’s more to do – and we’re committed to leading the way. I spoke with Massimo Marioni at Fortune about what this journey has meant, what’s next, and why we believe positivity is Pinterest’s superpower. Read more in our interview: https://lnkd.in/gzhKghRR
