I am setting up a TEKBOX TBLC08 LISN. I have found that the RF output has 11 Volts AC at 60Hz regardless of weather a DUT is connected or not. I am measuring this on the RF connector using a volt meter and see the same using an oscilloscope. The mains output to the DUT does not have this 11 volts signal.

Do I need some kind of filter on the RF output?

I do not yet have a metal ground plate on my test bench.

That's roughly (depending on mains frequency and voltage) what I'd expect if the output was terminated with 1kΩ rather than 50Ω.

Make sure you have a 50Ω termination on the RF output.

It sounds normal considering how you measure it. If you look at the LISN manual, it is obvious why you read 11 VAC at 60 Hz when measured with a voltmeter.

The LISN simply has a capacitor from Line to the measuring terminal when measuring it.

The intention is to connect the BNC output to equipment which has a signal input that terminates the signal with 50 ohms impedance. Your meter doesn't have that.

  • \$\begingroup\$ One of my scopes spec the input impedance at 200K/18p, the other is 50 ohm if less than 5V and 1M/18p if higher. Would a splitter with a 50 ohm terminator on the scope input solve the impedance? My cable is 50 ohms. \$\endgroup\$

  • \$\begingroup\$ @srjasz What you are not realizing that the voltage will be lower after you terminate with 50 ohms as required. Also the LISN seems to have some attenuation features - you really need to read the manual how to use the LISN. \$\endgroup\$
