What are some summer programs I can do as a world literature student?

I was wondering if there are programs out there for literature students to enhance their studies or prepare for grad school. I’ve already done research with a faculty mentor and plan to study abroad, so I just wanted to know if there was anything else I can do.

What is the best way to take advantage of my summer before starting college?

Hi! My name is Mayela and I am an 18-year-old senior in high school residing in the Sacramento Area. I recently got accepted into UCSB and will be attending this fall as a pre-biology major on the pre-med track. I’m currently trying to figure out the best way to take advantage of my summer before school starts because my family cannot support me financially and I’ll be paying for most of my expenses on my own. I know UCSB offers a FSSP summer program where you can knock off a few units and get ahead in credits, but it requires money and to live in campus. I’m debating whether I should join the program or take cheaper classes at local community colleges instead, that way I wont have to move to Santa Barbara yet. I am also debating whether I should apply for paid internships/jobs instead so that I can start saving some money before school starts and to gain experience for my resume. As a first-gen who has literally no idea how to pay for college, what’s the best thing I should do?

What's my next step for the summer as a rising senior intending to major in pharmacology if most are not available?

Following up with my previous question on what part time job I can get for pharmacology, I tried applying for a pharmacy clerk position at a local Walgreen. However, Michigan law (where I'm at) says that we must have a high school diploma to get a job at a pharmacy. Same with most hospitals: most prefer if you are in college or have at least some medical experience. I am still waiting for a couple internship summer program results. I'm also trying to reach out to local college professors, research centers, and small pharmaceutical companies if they would let me intern over the summer, but I'm not so sure if they would take me in. I do have a great volunteer work though! Been going at it for the last couple months at a blood donation center :) Any other suggestions on what I can do over the summer to prepare myself for college?

I want to apply to the NYU Simon’s Summer program but I know it’s extremely selective with only a 5% acceptance rate and I’m worried I’m not good enough so could anyone read my stats? I have a 4.5 weighted gpa and a 4.0 unweighted I maxed out the rigor of my course work in both of of my years of high school (I’m a sophomore) and for extracurriculars I started a nonprofit that has received over 100+ letters that go to children in the area that face hardships, I also started an LA fundraiser that has collected over 200+ clothing articles in about two weeks, I have an essay that’s almost ready to be published about the unintentional disregard of women in the health care system and its affects on their lives, I also have a children’s book about women’s health that should be ready to self publish in the second week of February, I have a HOBY nomination for leadership, I take an EMT course and will be certified by June, I am a girls in the run junior coach( local nonprofit that helps young girls become more confident and assertive), I also work as an HR at a tutoring company, I also have a prototype of a women’s health app I am trying to develop, and to finish off I started reasearching possible early diagnosis of endometriosis through cell trackers found in menstrual blood. However I know that pretty much all of the kids submitting an application have done these things or something way better so I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on how to help me get admitted into the program?!

NYU Simon’s Summer Program -I also volunteer at a geriatric hospital - Do color guard, violin , piano

Do you have any advice pertaining to how to make the most of a freshman summer program?

I'm doing a summer program that allows me to get 13 credit hours before the rest of the freshman. I think it will be a fantastic way for me to get to know campus before 'real' school begins. This means a smaller, more individualized class size, but it also means a shorter term. Should I take subjects I struggle with (aka Math) during the summer due to the small class size, or avoid it due to the shortened term? Thanks! #summer-programs #freshman

What are some recommended summer activities that I can do over the summer to show my interest in the Pharmaceutical Sciences field?

As a high school student, I have always wanted to pursue in the medical field. However, I am leaning more on the chemistry aspect, rather than biology (though I want to do both). So I figured that the best option for me is pharmaceutical sciences. The problem now I am having is deciding what summer programs/jobs best fit me for my major, so colleges can see through my application that I am competent and qualified for this major. Any suggestions? #biology #chemistry #pharmaceuticals #summer-jobs #summer-internship #summer-programs #career-details

What are some quick resume boosters for prospective college students?

My cousin is graduating next spring and I want to help him find impressive and enriching programs to get involved in this summer. I know it is already June, but I hope to find something that can make him stand out on college applications. He likely has to start sending those out in August or September. Any advice, links, etc, are appreciated! P.S. he wants to attend a college with a great medical program, especially in neuroscience! #college #medicine #resume #neuroscience #college-student #summer-programs
