How Can I learn better with ADHD (Attention Deficit focused)?

I'm a freshman in college taking all STEM classes and 'm currently pursing a degree in engineering (leaning towards electrical). However, I keep finding myself struggling time and time again. It takes me much longer than others to comprehend given information from lectures, and I keep finding myself constantly distracted. I want to be an engineer very badly. This sounds pretty general but I want to help innovate new technology to help people. I don't plan on letting this ADHD stop me, but without the proper help, I'm worried my path is going to be a lot more shakey. Any ideas on how to be a better learner? #Spring25

As a computer science Major, What are the best actionable steps that I can take in order to make sure I am properly prepared for the future landscape of the career field?

I am a sophomore at a small liberal arts college, and my main concern about careers in computer science is that I may not be skillful enough to contribute effectively to a company. I would appreciate some advice pointing me towards actions, books, and websites I can use in my free time to prepare for my future. With AI on the rise, I fear that not properly strengthening my coding skills will be a detriment in getting a job. Thank you, Raymond II

Electrical Engineering has always been my dream career, it pays well, it's difficult, I get to help people, and I get to work and innovate with electricity, which is a commodity that our developing world needs. However, gaining real applicable experience isn't always easy. I wish to know how to gain experience in order to become an electrical engineer that is able to create effective change in our growing society. #Spring25

What is one thing I should do before (or during) my freshman year of college?

I am a current high school senior who has been accepted to and enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for meteorology. My first semester is Fall 2025, and I am trying to prepare myself for freshman year. I already have a potential roommate, but I am looking for tips for my first year. My fall semester consists of 6 classes (Chemistry, Chemistry lab, Calc 1, English, Weather, and a general college success course), and I am worried about managing my time. It will also be the first time living dorm-style, and I don't know what to expect. Any college tips would help!

What volunteer/intern STEM opportunities are there for high schoolers??

Hi! I'm a rising junior who's looking into studying a STEM major, most likely biology or biochemistry. Are there any resources to find volunteer or internship opportunities that are local to me? For college, do I need to volunteer in a STEM field, or would a local hospital or library be sufficient? TIA

What jobs would be recommended for someone wanting to pursue Astrogeology, but is worried about long-term job security?

My dream has always been to do some kind of Astrogeology and study incoming samples from space. Seeing as we are in uncertain times for space research, are there any jobs outside of working for Musk that anyone would recommend that seem to have a secure place in the industry? I want to change my major and follow my passion but I worry I will be unable to find a job after graduating. Thank you #Spring25

How should a person decide what subfield to specialize in if there are so many appealing choices?

I am a rising college freshman majoring in physics, with career aspirations of becoming an astrophysicist. But the term "astrophysicist" is so broad, and there are too many specializations to count (heliophysics, exoplanetology, planetary science, cosmology, galactic evolution, and astrobiology, to name a few). Because I consider myself an indecisive person, I can see myself having trouble narrowing down a topic that I want to dedicate years of my life to. So, when it comes time to choose a specialty for master's and PhD theses, what's the best approach to go about it?

What are the best study tips and schedules for balancing self-care, social life, and academics in STEM? #Spring25

I am a senior in highschool who plans to major in Neuroscience. I took rigorous STEM classes before, like Anatomy and Psychology, but it was difficult balancing everything, and it took a major toll on my mental and physical health. Detailed flashcards on Quizlet are my main way to study, but I was wondering if there were better alternatives.
