Ambitious Media Arts Production Student at Scripps College of Communication Ohio University | Seeking LA-based Creative Development & Production fall internship

All things must end, but I really didn’t want this one to! Last week, I concluded my internship with The Paley Center for Media in New York City and I couldn’t have asked for a more rewarding experience. From talking to fearless directors/producers like Ava DuVernay, Betsy Beers, Courtney Kemp, and the TV legend himself, Peter Roth - I took one step further in my journey to becoming the unapologetic media professional I strive to be. I owe all my thanks to Rob Doodian, Linda Caffin, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, JD, and Mahmud Bonnie for believing in my value throughout a competitive selection process. My gratitude, however, does not end there. To my internship directors, Carlos Pareja and Bekah Fisk, your guidance these past six weeks has left a lasting impression. Forever thankful for the bonds I’ve made. #PeterRothInternship #ThePaleyCenter

Film & Television Production Student at New York University

Last week I completed my internship as a Peter Roth Intern at the The Paley Center for Media in New York City. At the Paley Center I was able to meet with so many incredibly talented folks in the entertainment industry. From former president of Warner Bros. T.V, Peter Roth himself, to the esteemed Ava DuVernay, my fellow interns and I were exposed to so much knowledge within the field of entertainment. We spoke to and learned from the creative minds of Courtney Kemp, Gayle King, Michelle & Robert King, Emily St. James & Libby Hill, and Jenny Snyder Urman while also getting to pick the brains of producing/executive geniuses like Betsy Beers, Charlie Collier, Craig Erwich, Crystal McCrary McGuire, Dan McDermott, and Brad Schwartz. In addition to these one on one Q&A’s, my cohort was invited to site visits at the highly regarded Hearst building, the set of The Today Show (feat. myself on the Jenna and Friends set) and other sets around NBC Studios! Special thanks to Alexandra Carlin, Karen Gray, Michael J. Hayes, Elizabeth Laskie-Gonzalez, and Wendy Metcalfe. When we were back at the Paley Center for our day-day to do, fellow intern Lauren Key and I were supporting the Paley Industry team headed by Kevin Peraino and Joseph Spacek. In our time there, Lauren and I researched industry professionals, specifically within the AI industry, and recommended them for The Paley Dialogues and the upcoming Paley Summit. Thank you to Daniel Drake and Madelyn Brody for their support during my time with the industry team. The final week of our internship concluded with presentations from members of the cohort pitching ideas for our own original T.V. or film projects. It was a great way to practice pitching and give feedback to one another on our ideas based on the advice from Peter Roth’s pitching lesson. In those final days we were also able to attend one last Q&A with the wonderful Carla Hall who brought such a wonderful energy to our very last week! All in all I want to thank the head of education at Paley, Bekah Fisk and Carlos Pareja, for creating such a warm, welcoming, and knowledgable environment for myself and my fellow interns. Additional thanks are due to Mahmud Bonnie, Linda Caffin, Rob Doodian, and Maureen Reidy. My experience as a Peter Roth Intern was truly unforgettable and I am so appreciative of all that I learned this summer!

Last week marked the end of my time at The Paley Center for Media as a 2025 Peter Roth intern. I am so grateful for the past six weeks, which have been full of unforgettable experiences. As an intern, I was given the opportunity to hear from esteemed industry professionals such as Betsy Beers, Ava DuVernay, Gayle King, and Peter Roth himself. From speaking with top TV executives to award-winning writers, my internship cohort got an insider’s perspective of the media industry, and learned strategies that can help us succeed in our endeavors. We were also able to visit sites such as Hearst Tower and The Today Show at NBC Studios, where we networked with media professionals and gained valuable insights. I am so thankful to everyone who took the time to speak with us. I was also able to work with the Public Programming department at Paley to expand my skillset through a variety of projects. In this role, I conducted research on potential guests for the museum to collaborate with across television, film, news, and social media platforms, and also pitched my own ideas for Paley events and exhibitions. My internship culminated in a television pitch project, for which I developed an original idea for a television show and presented it to my fellow interns. In this project, I was able to implement what I learned from Peter Roth during our television pitch workshop, and it was truly enlightening to learn from his robust experience first-hand. I would like to thank Peter Roth for being so genuine and open with us, and for providing us with this internship opportunity to expand our careers in media. I want to thank everyone at Paley for being so friendly, welcoming, and willing to mentor us interns throughout our six weeks. I also want to thank Bekah Fisk and Carlos Pareja for being there for us every step of the way. From organizing meetings with guest speakers to building a safe work environment and supporting us creatively, we all truly appreciate everything you have done for us! To my fellow interns, thank you for bringing so much joy and creativity to work everyday. I cannot wait to see what amazing things you accomplish in the future, and I hope to be able to collaborate with every one of you again, as you are some of the most talented individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Having been a Teen Transmitters intern at Paley when I was in high school, returning to Paley this summer was like reuniting with an old friend. I’m looking forward to the reunions!

Good morning, LinkedIn Family, After six intensive and transformative weeks, it is a proud yet bittersweet moment that I announce my conclusion in the 2025 Peter Roth Internship Program at The Paley Center for Media. Named after the former president of Warner Bros. Television, the Peter Roth Internship is a prestigious program designed to empower the next generation of trailblazers in film and entertainment. From participating in exclusive workshops with leading industry professionals like Betsy Beers, Ava DuVernay, and Peter Roth himself, to behind-the-scenes visits at renowned companies like Hearst and NBCUniversal, every moment of this internship was an invaluable experience. I had the pleasure of interning in the Communications Department under the guidance of Teresa Brady, working alongside Melissa Ng. I contributed to amazing projects such as editing and refining the Paley newsletter and even helped organize a special event celebrating 30 years of Everybody Loves Raymond, granting me the opportunity to meet Ray Romano, Phil Rosenthal, and the incredible minds behind one of the world’s most classic sitcoms. Teresa, thank you for your mentorship and leadership. I’ve learned so much under your guidance and I can’t wait to carry those lessons with me throughout my career. I would be incredibly remiss if I also didn’t thank Bekah Fisk and Carlos Pareja for creating such a welcoming environment that made me excited to come into work. There was never a dull moment at the Paley Center and you all’s contagious energies radiated throughout the office. You will be deeply missed. I would also like to take the time to thank Rob Doodian and Linda Caffin, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, JD. Thank you for your encouraging and kind words as we set off into our respective careers. Without you, this opportunity would not have been possible. Lastly, to the 2025 Peter Roth Internship Class, thanks for making these past six weeks filled with laughter, fun, and unforgettable experiences. I couldn’t ask to be a part of a better cohort. You all are some of the most intelligent, creative, and innovative people I ever had the pleasure of working with and I hope our futures align to where we can work together again. With that, I am a proud member of the Paley Alumni Association, and I will forever be grateful to this program for the professional and personal growth it has given me. #PeterRoth2025InternshipClass #PeterRothIntern
