We are proud to announce that ORUS has been selected as a Category 1 laureate under the Copernicus Contributing Missions (CCM) 2025 programme by the European Commission and European Space Agency - ESA! 🌍🛰️ As part of the Copernicus Programme, ORUS will deliver high-resolution hyperspectral data services to support key European priorities such as environmental sustainability, Common Agricultural Policy enforcement, and critical infrastructure monitoring. ORUS is preparing to launch a constellation of 5 microsatellites and deliver unprecedented hyperspectral insights for Agriculture & Forestry, Environment & Climate change, Defence & Security, Energy transition, Geology, and sustainable Urban development. Our proprietary technology enables automated material classification, for vegetation species detection, water quality monitoring, and much more — all with the revisit frequency and accuracy needed for large-scale positive environmental impact. 🌱💧 This €3 million contract is a major milestone for us, and marks ORUS as one of Europe’s most innovative Earth Observation players, actively contributing to the hybrid data model of Copernicus that merges #Sentinel missions with next-generation commercial data. The selection was officially announced during a certificate ceremony at the Living Planet Symposium 2025 in Vienna this morning, in the presence of ESA and DG DEFIS leadership. Just a few moments ago, at Living Planet Symposium in Vienna, the European Space Agency - ESA and the European Commission officially welcomed six innovative companies into the Copernicus Contributing Missions (CCM) programme. This expansion reflects the growing strength of Europe’s New Space ecosystem, and reaffirms the agility and evolution of Copernicus in addressing emerging data needs. Congratulations to: Marble Imaging, GEOSAT, SatVu, ORUS, Unseenlabs and Aerospacelab. These companies bring enhanced imaging, hyperspectral, thermal, and RF intelligence capabilities that will strengthen Copernicus services across environmental monitoring, climate action, maritime security, and more. As I shared during the signature: “This is proof of the agility and continuous evolution of Copernicus, the importance of onboarding commercial missions to further enhance capabilities, and a vote of confidence for European Earth Observation New Space.” Together, we’re reinforcing Europe’s leadership in public–private Earth observation collaboration. #LPS25

ORUS is building the next frontier of Earth observation: a full-stack hyperspectral imaging platform in space. Founded by Laurent Escarrat and Vincent DAVID, ORUS combines next-generation sensors with AI-powered data processing to deliver unprecedented image fidelity and spectral coverage. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience building and leading SOPHIA Engineering (a multidisciplinary consultancy specialising in scientific and technical engineering, across aerospace, automotive, defense, energy, and telecommunications), they have turned deep research into practical, mission-critical systems. It was a real pleasure to take part in the 10th scientific symposium of the Groupe Hyperspectral of the French Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (#SFPT-GH), kindly hosted this year by ACRI-ST in Grasse.
