This year marks 10 years since ESA’s European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications (ECSAT), opened its doors at Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire! 🚀 Applications are now OPEN for the ESA Acceleration Days on Crisis Preparedness!   Modelled after fast-paced competition formats, the ESA Acceleration Days are in-person events where top teams compete to take forward their innovation ideas to help tackle Europe’s most pressing issues.    In partnership with safe.brussels and Zone Police Midi - Politiezone Zuid, this campaign focuses on leveraging AI and improving the integration of space capabilities to support the preparedness and execution of mass evacuations. As Heriberto Saldivar Massimi, PhD reminded us during his keynote at the European Space Generation Workshop on July 5th, "Space doesn’t reward continuity—it rewards courage. Strategy 2040 isn’t just a technical blueprint. It’s a new European dream—one where Europe leads with purpose, dares boldly, and shapes the future of space for generations to come.” 🌕 On July 4th and 5th, the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) held the European Space Generation Workshop, bringing together over 150 European Young Professionals and students in Toulouse to exchange ideas around the topic: lunar exploration, build networks, and contribute to a sustainable and innovative space future. ESA is proud to be one of the main sponsors of this uplifting event supporting the development of our next generation of space leaders and the origination of innovative ideas. On top of the keynote, ESA also contributed to the program with: 🪐 A panel discussion bringing together Heriberto Saldivar Massimi, PhD, ioana-Roxana PERRIER (IPSA), Alessandro Ruggiero Chiminelli (Thales Alenia Space), Marcos Eduardo Rojas Ramirez (CT Engineering) discussing "The next 50 years of lunar exploration for Europe". 🔭 An interactive session from the ESA Working Group on Building a Lunar Economy, featuring experts Florian Marmuse (ESA) and Francesco Ventre (i-space). 📚 A Masterclass on the History of Space Commercialisation, co-led by Florian Marmuse and Lea Kablitz, offering insights into the development of commercial space and its implications for ESA. Supporting events like E-SGW within SGAC is vital to empower the next generation of space leaders. The future of space in Europe not just depends on technology—but on people with courage, vision, and collaboration.
