Recently, I have tried several times to use Approach0 search engine, however I got this error.

Oops! Seems like server is down, please come back later.

I'm wondering if I am the only person experiencing this error, or there is a problem with Approach0.

$\begingroup$ Well, May 16 was mentioned as an approximate date when it could be online again. $\endgroup$ Commented May 13 at 5:50

$\begingroup$ I would have recommended the use of SearchOnMath, which I would often use when this website was down. Then it was restricted to paid usage, which made this the only resource for searching equations on this site. $\endgroup$ Commented May 13 at 13:59

$\begingroup$ In general, if you have had any doubts that some site is down for everyone or just you, check out downforeveryoneorjustme.com (short link: isup.me) $\endgroup$

  • $\begingroup$ @polfosol: The frontend website approach0.xyz was always running, only the backend server was down, so that every search request failed (with the error message shown in the screenshot). Would isup.me help in such a situation? $\endgroup$

Update (May 16, 18:00 GMT): Approach0 is running again!

Original answer: Yes, Approach0 is currently down. This was first reported on April 23, 2025, in the “In the search of a question” chatroom. Every now and then the server has to be restarted manually. This has been announced for May, 16.

The “In the search of a question” chatroom is a good place to ask about Approach0 and to report problems, Wei Zhong, the creator of Approach0, is regularly present there and responds to questions.

As one can see from their recent messages, Wei Zhong is busy with their real live tasks, so that it may take a while until a problem is fixed. We should keep in mind that Approach0 is a private “side-project” of Wei Zhong and not maintained by Mathematics Stack Exchange or any Stack Exchange network.
