📢 I am very happy to share that Intuitive Machines has once again entrusted Thales Alenia Space in #Spain to provide #radio_transponders for its #IM_3 mission to the Moon 🌒 🚀 Scheduled for launch in 2026, this will be Intuitive Machines' third mission to the Moon, following #Odysseus (IM-1) and #Athena (IM-2) Nova-C lunar landers, all of them equipped with our radios 📻   📡 Our radio transponders enable Moon-Earth direct-link communications, which are vital to #command the spacecraft 🛰️ both in-orbit and on the lunar surface after landing, and to download all its #telemetries and science data enduring Moon’s harsh environment conditions and operating in a wide range of nominal and worst case configurations and situations 📻 Drawing on more than 36 years of expertise in satellite communications and heritage in more than 600 space missions, from #LEO to #MEO, #GEO, the #Moon and #L2, these are robust and efficient pieces of equipment which have proved very resilient, maintaining strong signal even in the toughest situations 👏 This marks the 12th lunar mission in which we’ll participate, spanning landers, rovers, orbiters and the Gateway, a world-class expertise in lunar communications. Honored to have welcomed Philippe Baptiste, French Minister for Higher Education and Research, to our Satellite Integration Center in Rome.    Thales Alenia Space plays a key role in advancing Europe’s space capabilities in all fields. This visit highlighted the essential link between research, education, and industrial innovation.   As a long-standing industrial partner in flagship programs such as Galileo, Copernicus, and the future secured IRIS² telecommunications constellation, Thales Alenia Space is at the forefront of translating Europe’s ambitions in space into operational realities. The company is working as well on numerous innovative programs hand in hand with key actors from the space ecosystem, including startups and SMEs.   The third COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation satellite, alongside key subsystems of the IRIDE Earth observation constellation were spotlighted in our clean rooms during Minister Baptiste’s visit. Today, we were truly honored to welcome Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency - ESA , for an exclusive preview of the new Space Smart Factory by Thales Alenia Space in Rome.   This state-of-the-art facility, set to be officially unveiled after the summer, represents a major investment, co-funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Dans le cadre de France 2030, Thales Alenia Space s’engage aux côtés de STEEL Electronique sur le projet CEOS2030, soutenu par l’État français. L’objectif de CEOS2030 est de développer une nouvelle génération de matériel embarqué pour satellites, intégrant des capacités de traitement intelligent et autonome des données d’observation de la Terre. Ce système permettra d’exécuter à bord des applications complexes d’intelligence artificielle, optimisées pour des contraintes de calcul, de consommation et de fiabilité en environnement spatial. CEOS2030 s’inscrit en complément du projet ORCHIDE (Orchestration of Reliable Computing on Heterogeneous Infrastructures Deployed at the Edge), une solution logicielle d’orchestration embarquée en cours de développement avec Thales Roumanie, Tarides, l’Université Polytechnique de Bucarest et KP Labs. Financé par la Commission Européenne dans le cadre du programme Horizon Europe, ORCHIDE permettra de créer, déployer et superviser dynamiquement des applications hétérogènes sur des ressources de calcul embarquées, en toute sécurité. Ensemble, ORCHIDE et CEOS2030 traduisent notre vision du spatial de demain : un espace modulaire, agile, et adaptatif, capable de répondre à des besoins évolutifs en temps réel.  Grâce à CEOS2030, les traitements embarqués permettront : • la sélection intelligente des données à transmettre au sol, • une réactivité accrue face aux événements, • une optimisation de l’utilisation des ressources spatiales.
