This month, thanks to EU’s and Member States diplomatic efforts, UN Member States reached consensus to establish a permanent global mechanism to advance responsible state behaviour in cyberspace, a major step for international cyber safety. The agreement builds on a 2020 proposal by the EU and its Member States for a UN cyber Programme of Action. The EU remains committed to promoting a global, open, free, stable and secure cyberspace — grounded in international law, human rights, and multilateralism. EU foreign affairs ministers are meeting today, 15 July, in Brussels for the Foreign Affairs Council (#FAC). EU ministers met for the Foreign Affairs Council (Trade) to discuss EU-US trade relations. They found the announced 30% US tariffs unjustified and unacceptable but remain committed to continued dialogue and achieving a negotiated outcome that delivers tariff relief and restores stability. On Monday 14 July, the EU and the six Central American countries — Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama — will meet in Brussels for the first EU–Central America Association Council. The meeting will be chaired by the HR/VP Kaja Kallas and the Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen It marks the first high-level gathering under the Association Agreement between the EU and Central America, in force since 1 May 2024. This week, the Council extended the mandate of the EU Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) until 19 September 2026. EUTM RCA was established in April 2016 to contribute to the reform of the Central African Republic’s defence sector. Read more: europa.eu/!yfFBHt
