Info
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the world's largest regional security organization. Its 57 participating States span the geographical area from Vancouver to Vladivostok. Born in the early 1970s as the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe, it served as an important multilateral forum for dialogue between East and West during the Cold War. It was also instrumental in tackling the numerous security challenges that arose in Europe after the collapse of communism. Today, the OSCE, its institutions, and its 16 field operations are actively involved in a broad range of security- and stability-related activities including election monitoring, human rights, legislative reform, rule of law and media freedom, as well as combating human trafficking, terrorism and the smuggling of small arms and light weapons.

💡 Power outages are not only inconvenient, they’re dangerous. From home heating to hospital care, energy security is life security. The OSCE works across the region to help countries keep energy systems stable, even in crisis. And getting experts and decision-makers together to find solutions is crucial to that process. 💻 Digitalization opens doors to new opportunities but also to potential risks of cybercrime and crimes involving electronic evidence. We're working together with institutions across Central Asia 🇰🇿🇰🇬🇹🇯🇹🇲🇺🇿 to: - Provide training programmes on investigating cybercrimes and handling electronic evidence; - Strengthen national capacities to identify, collect and analyse electronic evidence; - Enhance regional co-operation on cybercrime; - Raise awareness among policymakers and the public. This is one of the OSCE's commitments to addressing transnational threats by building safer, more resilient digital societies. 🔗 Learn more about the project: https://lnkd.in/d5c_USb5

🚨 The illicit trafficking of cultural property isn't just theft — it's a major source of funding for organized crime, terrorism financing, and money laundering. Frontline officers from Georgia, Germany, and Ukraine gathered in Vienna for an OSCE-led training course to explore this link and hone their skills on advanced customs examinations and crime scene investigations. 🤝 Protecting our global heritage strengthens our shared security.

🔴 Uncontrolled small arms and light weapons cause more than physical harm. They’re used to intimidate, commit gender-based violence, and fuel organized crime. That’s why the OSCE Presence in Albania is helping journalists report on this complex issue with care and responsibility. ✅ Focus on real human stories ✅ Protect the dignity and safety of victims ✅ Challenge harmful stereotypes When media tells the full story with care, it helps drive accountability and real change for safer communities. Very happy to welcome today Hajer Sharief for a fireside chat as part of the EU funded OSCE Young Women for Peace (YW4P) Initiative. Hajer’s journey—from co-founding Together We Build It at 19 to becoming one of Africa’s most influential women, is nothing short of inspiring. She reminded all of us why creating spaces for young women to connect, share, and grow is not optional, it’s essential. I am very proud of our YW4P programme. This is more than just a capacity-building initiative, it’s about creating a lasting network of young women leaders and support them with concrete and tangible opportunities for regional peace building and conflict resolution initiatives. #WINGenderEquality #EUFPI Rasa Ostrauskaite

Back in 1975, our founding states agreed to safeguard nature, use resources wisely, and put people and the planet at the center of progress. Not just for economic development, but for the wellbeing and security of all. Half a century later, that message still matters... maybe more than ever. The #HelsinkiFinalAct isn’t just a historic agreement. It’s a vision for building a brighter future and it still drives our work every day. ⬇️

Gender equality is not an add-on in armed conflicts and humanitarian emergencies — it is essential to protecting those most at risk. We were honoured to contribute to the 25th Sanremo Summer School hosted by the International Institute of Humanitarian Law in Sanremo. Senior Adviser on Gender Issues, Dr Lara Scarpitta, led a session for senior military and civilian personnel on gender-related challenges in humanitarian crises and fragile contexts, highlighting OSCE’s work in advancing gender-responsive approaches. As part of the course, Adviser on Gender Issues, Martin Dexborg, facilitated a session on gender-specific aspects of the protection of vulnerable categories. During the visit, Dr Lara Scarpitta also met with the Institute’s President, Lt. General Giorgio Battisti, and Secretary-General Gian Luca Beruto to explore ways to strengthen co-operation and further integrate gender perspectives into training, including through our continued collaboration under the WIN Project. We are proud to support this long-standing course, which equips participants from around the world with practical tools to apply International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights Law, and Refugee and Migration Law in real-world operational settings. #WINGenderEquality Edoardo Gimigliano
