ADB Launches Network to Accelerate Universal Health Coverage in Asia-Pacific
ADB has taken a step toward strengthening health systems across Asia and the Pacific with the launch of the Universal Health Coverage Practitioners and Experts Knowledge Exchange and Resources (UHC-PEERS) network.
This regional initiative, announced during ADB’s INSPIRE Health Forum, is designed to foster peer-to-peer learning and collaboration among health professionals, policymakers, and development partners to accelerate progress toward universal health coverage.
The network will serve as a platform for sharing best practices, innovative solutions, and strategies to address persistent health challenges in the region. It aligns with ADB’s Strategy 2030, which emphasizes building resilient and inclusive health systems as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
The initiative comes at a critical time as countries continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and seek to build more equitable and robust health systems. By facilitating knowledge exchange and regional cooperation, ADB is helping to ensure that no one is left behind in the journey toward health for all.
Norway Commits Up to USD 50 Million to ADB’s Climate Action Catalyst Fund
The Norwegian Government has committed up to USD 50 million to ADB’s Climate Action Catalyst Fund (CACF). The fund mobilizes carbon finance for mitigation projects in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific through the purchase of carbon credits under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
The commitment follows Norway’s announced support for CACF during the UN Climate Change Conference in Azerbaijan in November last year.
ADB and International Cooperation and Development Fund Expand Collaboration in Digital Technology
ADB and the International Cooperation and Development Fund renewed their Cooperation Arrangement, which expands the scope to focus on the application of digital technologies in health, finance, agriculture, and cities.
The new Arrangement further provides for a program of knowledge cooperation that draws upon technologies and expertise and for project cofinancing between ADB and the International Cooperation and Development Fund. It also builds on an earlier agreement signed in 2020 that focused on the application of earth observation technologies.
How Small Island States Can Secure an Affordable Energy Future
Small island developing states in the Pacific face a difficult path in pursuing their energy goals. In their recent blog, ADB's Vice-President Scott Morris and Eric J. Lam explore how renewable energy can help scale up and maintain an affordable, reliable energy supply.
ADB's New Partnership Strategy to Support Mongolia’s Diversified, Inclusive, and Sustainable Growth
Over the next four years, ADB will focus on three strategic priorities: promoting diversified and inclusive growth; strengthening sustainability and resilience; and advancing empowerment and opportunity.
These priorities will be supported by crosscutting efforts to enhance private sector participation, accelerate climate action, strengthen governance and institutional capacity, drive digital transformation, and empower women and girls.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Laudable effort by the ADB to support the top-to-bottom approach to implement UHC. In the meantime lifemattersinternational.org continues to pave the way to UHC where it matters most: at the primary care level, where the lack of diagnostic means causes costly delays in diagnosis and treatment and remains a primary barrier to healthcare access.

Another great initiative from our friends at Asian Development Bank (ADB). One of the key facilitators of a network of shared health knowledge in terms of clinics, modern technology and reaching marginalised communities is, of course, electricity. Green Grids will be the foundation on which better health, better education and more sustainable growth will be built. But the grids have to be built first.
