ADB, CGIAR, and Gates Foundation Partner to Transform Rice Sector, Uplift Farmers

ADB and CGIAR, with support from the Gates Foundation, launched a new initiative aimed at transforming rice production across Asia and the Pacific. The collaboration will scale up sustainable, low-carbon rice farming practices to address the impacts of rising temperatures, food insecurity, and environmental degradation.

With rice being a staple for billions and a key livelihood for millions of smallholder farmers, the initiative seeks to drive innovation and investment in climate-resilient agriculture.

By leveraging cutting-edge research and policy support, the partnership will improve productivity, reduce emissions, and enhance the resilience of food systems in the region.
