- Next are decisions related to handling new and existing data. These considerations are for any deployment type. Decision 15, determine a plan for backing up important data. Make Jira part of the disaster recovery plan at your company. Answer questions like how and how often are application files, database records, configurations, workflows, automation rules, scripts, and attachments backed up, and where are those backups stored? How long are backups retained? Is access to the backup resource secured? And how and how often are backups validated? Decision 16, decide how to handle pre-JIRA data. Does existing data from another application need to be imported? What is the structure of that data and how will it be mapped to Jira structure?
