- In addition to application types, Jira also has different deployment types and versions. It's important to identify which version you have to leverage the correct documentation and apps. The deployment types are Cloud, Server, and Data Center. The Cloud deployment type is hosted by Atlassian. That means Atlassian is responsible for application uptime, the database, and the mail server. Cloud has specific capabilities, a specific user interface, and is billed per user on a monthly or annual subscription. Cloud software is ever evolving and you should expect frequent visual, feature, and terminology changes.
