Creating issues from email
- In Jira, you can create issues via email, but there are some caveats. In this section, I'll show you how to set this up and what factors to be aware of. Another way to get issues into Jira is to create them from email. Sometimes organizations use this feature as an alternative to the Create form or to create requests tracked in other applications. For example, another application can send an email to Jira to trigger issue creation. Some benefits of this method are that the email subject automatically becomes the issue summary and the email body becomes the description. Any attachments in the message are automatically attached to the Jira issue. And if subsequent messages are sent, the email body is added to the Jira issue as a comment. The requirements for using this feature are a connected mail server, a POP or IMAP email address, and Jira application administrator access. Here's how it works.
