- [Instructor] Automations are configured using rules. Rules store the criteria for when and how actions are performed. For example, each time an issue is created, check to see if it's part of an epic. If an epic exists, then edit the assignee field. Each rule has a scope or limit to the issues it impacts. There are four scope options, which are global, single project, multiple projects, and project type. Project level administrators can only create single project rules. Application level admins can create multi-project rules however. When you're ready to create some custom rules, Jira comes with automation templates to get you started. Click the Templates tab at the top of the global automation page in the system admin section to see the options. Another place to find templates is an Atlassian's automation template library.
