PCF's main program distributes computers to students in the Philadelphia school system who don't have a computer in their home. PCF works with students to help them build the skills needed in a 21st century economy.

    • Over 90,000 students and families in the Philadelphia School District have no computer at home.
    • 50% of 9th graders in the Philadelphia public schools between 2000-2005 did not graduate in four years.
    • Every year, 8,000 students officially drop out of the Philadelphia school system and an additional 5,000 spent so little time in school that researchers called them “near dropouts.”
    • One-third of all drop-outs were in grade nine or below.

Author Ken Dooley is a close personal friend who spearheaded this World War II project in order to get proper recognition for 2nd Lt Robert Thorpe, a Rhode Island native who was shot down, captured, tortured and beheaded by the Japanese. I was honored to support Ken's meticulous and engrossing work by building a website to showcase (and sell!) the book to the public.
