What if highly contaminated land could be safely and efficiently restored for productive use? Dylan Garrett recently chatted with Randol Aikin, founder of Remedy Scientific Inc., about revolutionizing land remediation. With over 500,000 contaminated sites across the U.S., Aikin explains how robotics, AI, and containerized systems are accelerating the cleanup of toxic “forever chemicals.” This innovative approach not only enables faster, localized treatment but also unlocks critical land for housing and infrastructure, proving that development and environmental protection can go hand in hand. 🌿 On World Biodiversity Day, we’re spotlighting innovation for the planet. Wildlife populations are declining fast—disrupting ecosystems and accelerating species loss. Through Capgemini's Tech4Positive Futures program, we’re using technology to help reverse this trend. Our project, Gene Genius, was selected as a 2024 challenge winner for its focus on developing a rapid assembly process to help increase production of the cartridge in Conservation X Labs' NABIT device, which is globally used for environmental DNA analysis. Here’s to continuing to find more technology-driven solutions that can help protect biodiversity on both land and water to create a more sustainable world for everyone. #worldbiodiversityday #tech4positivefutures #sustainability #biodiversity

🌍 Over 1 million species are at risk of extinction, according to the UN. The urgency to protect biodiversity has never been greater. That’s where Conservation X Labs steps in. Their NABIT kit empowers environmental scientists to conduct rapid genetic analysis in the field, validating wildlife identity and enabling smarter conservation decisions. But there’s a bottleneck: Each NABIT cartridge is assembled manually by a single operator, capping production at just 1,500 units per year—far short of the 30,000+ needed. 💡 Enter Gene Genius, one of the winners of Capgemini's Tech4Positive Futures Challenge 2024. In collaboration with Conservation X Labs, our team is applying their expertise in production automation to scale cartridge assembly by 20x, without compromising quality. This innovation means: ✅ More NABIT kits in the hands of conservationists ✅ Faster, more efficient DNA testing in the field ✅ Better data to protect endangered species This is what tech for good looks like. 🌱 Congratulations to our team on their winning submission!
