📣 Rotary and Symbiosis University are partnering to establish a Rotary Peace Center at Symbiosis’ Lavale campus in Pune, Maharashtra, India. “This collaboration is a call for action to invest in peace, nurture local leadership, and shape resilient communities for generations to come,” said Bharat Pandya, Trustee, The Rotary Foundation. 17 years old. One backpack. One Rotary Youth Exchange ticket to India. I landed in Mumbai and dove straight into the chaos — rickshaws, street food, local trains (yes, hanging out of the doors half the time). But what truly changed my life wasn’t the noise or the pace — it was a quiet school built under a bridge in Thane. A Signal School. A place where children from the slums learned in the middle of traffic, dust, and possibility. I fell in love with the project. I didn’t want to just visit it — I wanted to help build it. We started raising funds and designing a plan: 🏫 Proper classrooms 🧪 A science lab 💻 A computer room 📚 A library ⚽ A playground I left India — and the school kept running. And this week, years later, I went back. Same place. Same spirit. Even recreated the photo that once made it to newspapers and TV. This isn't a story about me. It’s a story about how much can happen when community, opportunity, and action meet at the right moment. Grateful. Grounded. Inspired all over again. Mumbai — thank you for the full-circle moment. Bringing free libraries to the community 📚 A book can open doors to new worlds, spark imagination, and inspire change. That belief is at the heart of the Bromley Rotary Game Changers in south-east London, where their latest initiative is installing free little libraries throughout the community. The idea is simple: take a book, leave a book. Each library is a small beacon of connection, creativity, and access to knowledge 💛
