Independent since 1906, we empower people through sport and craftsmanship to create positive change around the world.

About us

In 1906, New Balance began as a humble one-man operation founded on the belief that “we were born to move,” and has since grown into an international corporation, selling footwear and apparel in over 120 countries and employing over 14,000 associates worldwide. Our mission has always been to support the performance of athletes, and with an unparalleled focus on quality and craftsmanship, we’ve come to set the standard for comfort and fit in an industry all too often driven by hype. We’re incredibly proud of our history and how far we’ve come, but companies don’t thrive for over a century by being content. Whether it’s setting a new style trend, retooling our manufacturing process, or building a new state-of-the-art headquarters, we pursue innovation with a spirit of fearless independence. As the only privately held major footwear company in the world, we’re free to do things our way, pushing limits and testing boundaries as we continually reimagine what could be. After all, the status quo isn’t static. But doing things our way wouldn’t mean much if we weren’t also doing them the right way. We invest in our associates as they invest in us, and as we move forward, we make a point of giving back, supporting communities around us through ambitious philanthropic efforts and involvement programs. We are a company that cares, and our culture is one of integrity and teamwork where together we become greater than the sum of our parts.

Updates

  • We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Premier League star and New Balance athlete Eberechi Eze to our Boston headquarters. In his first visit to the city, Eze connected with associates in-person and virtually around the world in a conversation full of insight, humility, and inspiration.    He shared his journey from South London to the global stage, reflecting on the challenges he’s overcome and the faith and family that continue to guide him. From scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final with Crystal Palace to launching The Eze Foundation, his story is one of purpose and perseverance.    Eze spoke passionately about giving back and the importance of creating opportunities for young people beyond the pitch. His commitment to community and authenticity mirrors the values we hold close at New Balance.    We’re proud to partner with Eze, not just as an athlete, but as a changemaker.

  • As the Merchandising & Product Manager for India, Aarti Khanna's role at New Balance is multifaceted and complex, and requires organization, constant communication and teamwork. She manages product and merchandising across categories, including footwear, apparel and accessories.   “I’ve always considered myself a ‘product’ person. That’s one of the things that attracted me to New Balance – my love for the brand and technology-driven approach combined with my passion for sport,” said Aarti.   “The environment is so dynamic, and things move fast, so ensuring everyone is aligned is critical. I love that people are always willing to jump in and help out when needed. It really is true when we say: this is One NB.”

  • At New Balance, we believe career development is more than climbing a ladder. We’re proud to foster a culture of internal mobility, where associates are empowered to take multi-directional, non-linear paths that align with their career aspirations and strengths. Today we’re celebrating Laura Gibbons, a Senior Manager of Planning & Analytics in Lawrence, Massachusetts, who has not only navigated her own career path, but has also championed the growth of her team along the way. “One of my core responsibilities as a manager is to support the growth and development of my team, said Laura. “I have helped associates improve skills needed for their next role and utilized New Balance’s internal course offerings to develop leadership and other soft skills. Understanding each associate’s goals allows me to tailor their development plan accordingly, recognizing that each journey is unique.” Laura helps associates see their potential and feel confident in their career journey. She encourages people to embrace new challenges and discover hidden strengths. “Create your own path based on what excites, motivates and inspires you.” Interested in growing your career at New Balance? • New Balance is proud to continue expanding our global retail presence, with new store openings happening regularly across key markets. These stores are the culmination of months of hard work between collaborative teams to develop a new look for our brand.   Each new store opening tells a story of innovation and growth. We’re not just unveiling a new physical space – we're creating opportunities to deepen our connection with local communities and consumers. The fresh retail concepts were designed to put people, not products, at the center of the consumer experience. With a focus on visual storytelling to accompany select products, we highlight the makers and origins behind our products to further illuminate New Balance at the intersection of sport and culture.   In celebrating our achievement, we recognize that this momentum is just the beginning. With plans for even more store openings in the coming months, we are excited to continue on this path of growth and innovation.     Check out the video from our new store in Munich, Germany! To our new retail stores and associates, welcome to the New Balance family!

  • Cooper Flagg - the Maine choice, the first choice.                                             Governor Janet Mills proclaimed June 25, 2025, as “Cooper Flagg Day” in Maine to celebrate the remarkable basketball achievement of Maine’s Cooper Flagg, and recognize his hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship as an inspiration to youth to pursue their dreams. Our associates in Maine proudly read the proclamation and raised flags at our facilities in Norway and Skowhegan.   “The intrinsic connection between Cooper and New Balance is far closer than the 24 miles between Newport and our domestic manufacturing craftmanship center in Skowhegan,” said Chris Davis, New Balance’s Global Brand President & Chief Marketing Officer.  “Cooper's work ethic, integrity and family values represent everything that our brand strives to realize on a daily basis. To us, this partnership was more a matter of destiny than serendipity.    We are so proud to have Cooper as part of the New Balance family and look forward to supporting him in his bright future ahead.

Incredibly honored to be named to the Forbes World's Most Influential CMO List of 2025. But if we are being transparent, this is by no means an individual accolade or a recognition merely representing the brand marketing and sports marketing teams at New Balance. This is an organization-wide achievement and a testament to our brand’s values, culture and world-class people. 👟 🌎 I am grateful to our teams across the world who work every day to ensure that our brand is brought to life in the most accretive manner possible. A challenger brand is not built overnight, it is curated and crafted over decades. This is visible recognition of the passion, work and effort that our team has realized over time. A massive thank you to Seth Matlins and the Forbes CMO Network for the honor. Congratulations to all of the other honorees and the organizations that they represent. Well deserved.
