One thing which I believe would be more helpful to reduce down time, that is to record frequent faults on machines and do Root cause analysis as a result plan actions and schedule PM to reduce down time.Predictive and routine PM planned after RCA are the key for smooth running of machines.

PM of machines must perform on time but if you get opportunity to execute them in unforeseen shut downs which come due to plant operational reasons than it will increase overall annual production and decrease outage of machines.

Effective inventory management is really very essential suitable quantity(Not less not extra) of spares should always be available. Need to assess the consumption of material as per history of machines and should order accordingly. Extra quantity will block capital and less availability can increase the downtime.

I totally agree with that infact maintenance packages must be available including SOP to perform PM this will ensure high quality of PM.
