🌍CDP and WWF Cities are teaming up for the #OnePlanetCityChallenge (OPCC) in 2025! The OPCC is a global program and friendly competition between cities designed by WWF to help increase your city’s resilience through integrated and ambitious climate action. It aims to develop and disseminate participant local authorities’ best climate mitigation and adaptation practices, while publicly recognizing the most ambitious leaders in the field. Cities are on the frontline of the climate crisis - they are responsible for over 70% of global emissions, home to half the world’s population, and generating 80% of global GDP. Without bold action from cities, we can’t tackle climate change. That’s why transparent environmental data from cities is essential to drive accountability and deliver real, lasting impact for people and nature. To participate in the OPCC and get most of the reporting benefits, including a private CDP score, cities must report their climate actions, strategies and data on CDP-ICLEI Track by the CDP scoring deadline September 17th. OPCC cities will be offered a free detailed feedback report on how to improve their actions over time. ➡️ New cities can now register to disclose: https://lnkd.in/eNNVrRg5 ➡️ Existing users and returning cities can login to join the OPCC and update their data here: https://lnkd.in/eRGViDZK

How does Earth-positive business action compare across the globe? Let’s explore the data. In our Corporate Health Check, developed in partnership with Oliver Wyman, we assessed progress across five critical climate and nature areas: disclosure, target setting, governance, strategy and progress. We identified four key levers that drive change: executive incentives, carbon pricing, climate transition plans and supplier engagement. This data was sourced from companies across the globe disclosing through CDP – so how are different regions comparing? 🌍CDP and the European Environment Agency are working together to build a more climate-resilient Europe. As declared by Deputy Mission Manager Philippe Tulkens: "Together, through the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, regions and local authorities are building a more climate-resilient Europe. As the 2025 reporting cycle opens, your local and regional data will show how ambition turned into action." We invite all 330+ Mission Signatories to take action and submit their 2025 response to CDP and the EEA. Mission-relevant questions have been tagged in the Questionnaire to ease reporting experience. CDP’s “write once, read many” approach ensures that a single disclosure helps build a trusted, global dataset that informs policy and decision-making on the road to an Earth-positive future. The data reported shapes climate action at the United Nations, the IPCC, the World Bank and beyond.🌱 Register to disclose now: https://lnkd.in/e_cXfPr5

🌱Explore CDP's comprehensive analysis of local climate actions from over 70 African cities who have reported to CDP-ICLEI Track. 🏙️ Together with our partners ICLEI Africa and Global Covenant of Mayors Sub-Saharan Africa, we take a deep dive at common climate risks and their impact, greenhouse gas emissions, adaptation and mitigation targets and actions as well as climate finance needs in Africa. The report is based on publicly available cities' data from CDP's Open Data Portal. The 2025 CDP-ICLEI Track environmental reporting cycle is now open and cities can report their actions here: https://lnkd.in/eVvhKfay
𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 | 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 📑🏙️ Since 2011, 115 African subnational governments have been measuring and managing their environmental #data through CDP’s reporting platform. And in 2023 alone, African cities disclosed over 230 #climate infrastructure projects via the CDP-ICLEI Track. 📊 The data shows that African cities are not just responding to climate change, they are redefining urban climate leadership. Of those that reported to the CDP-ICLEI Track: • 64% have completed climate risks and vulnerability assessment • 85% are delivering adaptation actions with multiple co-benefits, from job creation and improved biodiversity to enhanced safety and education. • 65% have set adaptation goals to address identified risks. • 46% have completed a Greenhouse Gas Inventory Cities like Dioudoubou, Freetown, Cape Town, Nairobi and many more are leading with 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱, 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The dominant narrative often casts African cities as lagging responders, held back by resource constraints, institutional fragility, and under-reporting. But the data and reality on the ground tells a different story. African cities aren’t waiting to be saved. They are innovating, adapting, and transforming themselves in the face of converging climate, social, and economic shocks. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. African cities are reshaping the very logic of urban climate action by demonstrating that bold leadership does not always require perfect data, massive budgets, or global platforms. It begins with knowing your risks, mobilising communities, and building momentum with what you have. If global climate goals are to be achieved, 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹—𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹. 📥 Read the full report and see how African cities are rewriting the climate playbook: https://lnkd.in/dngujtAe Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa CDP Meagen Swain Lea B. Still buzzing from hosting CDP's London Disclosure Workshop yesterday. We had a brilliant lineup. Inspiring keynote from CDP co-founder Paul Dickinson, who reminded us just how far we’ve come in 25 years of global corporate disclosure, and how far we still need to go. My favourite moment? When Paul asked if anyone in the room was under 25… and then pointed out that he’s been working on CDP and #climateaction longer than they’ve been alive, what a #legacy. Thank you Clifford Chance for hosting us in a beautiful space and for sharing Adam Hedley who gave a wonderful key note on why #ESGreporting is here to stay and businesses should feel confident that reporting reduces risk and provides opportunities for the leaders. Enjoyed grilling Philipp from Bosch, Ben Ngobi from Accenture, and James Smyth from M&G plc on how they make business decisions using CDP #data. Which data points matter most to them, how it supports decision-making, and why investors and customers have integrated it into business as usual. And it was fantastic to have James Chamberlayne & Jennifer W. from Citi share how leading companies are working with banks to unlock finance, accelerate their transitions, and meet climate and nature targets in ways that make business sense. Huge thanks to fellow CDPers my all female panel of nerds Sue Armstrong Brown, Amy Guest, Julie Smith and Jess talking about the future of CDP, what we'll be asking, how technology is going to make reporting and taking action on data easier, and how we'll be collaborating with companies going forward. Also David Lammers, Connie Chandler, Hugo Clapshaw, Tatiana Boldyreva, Thomas Maddox insightful briefings on disclosing to CDP, navigating the evolving reporting landscape and the business case for action on #nature. To everyone who attended, asked questions, and joined the conversation, thank you! You made the day what it was. #CDPWorkshops #ClimateAction #Nature #ESG #Disclosure #SustainableFinance #SupplyChain #CorporateResponsibility #CDP25

💧As water risks continue to grow, disclosure helps businesses trace and manage their water use to ensure availability and support resilient supply chains. Companies face billions in potential financial impacts from water risks, but data surfaced through disclosure helps businesses protect their operations, supply chains, and commercial interests and guides allocation of capital from financial institutions Measuring and managing your impact on water also helps organizations manage their impact on the environment holistically - from water to biodiversity, plastics, forests and climate. By disclosing through CDP, businesses put critical data in the hands of those who can act for the planet, the economy, and their own long-term resilience. ➡️ Find out what disclosure can do for your business: https://lnkd.in/gFVwytwb #WaterSecurity #CDPDisclosure2025 #CorporateSustainability #Water #ClimateLeadership

“You cannot separate out any longer the discussion about sustainability and net-zero targets. It has to be a whole of economy approach.” At London Climate Action Week (LCAW), CDP CEO Sherry Madera sat down in conversation with Nick Studer, CEO of Oliver Wyman. It was a conversation of hope, of realism, of current ideals, and of the green potential for our economy and our planet. Today, two-thirds of global market capitalization report through CDP. To pursue the climate targets necessary to create an Earth-positive future, they are now asking: ‘How can we measure more so that we can manage more?’ This is solid business thinking, and this is what we need to keep talking about. At Davos this year, we launched our Corporate Health Check, in partnership with Oliver Wyman and its insights remain just as relevant today. It was encouraging to see these priorities reflected in the conversations at London Climate Action Week. The message is clear: the focus must remain on action. Baselines and targets are not enough. We need to see transition plans that not only help corporates to achieve their targets but also demonstrate how mitigating risk can lead to economic opportunity. The report shows that the UK is demonstrating real leadership, with 62% of companies having set targets and 50% on track to meet them. It’s promising progress, but there’s still much to do. We remain committed to uncovering meaningful insights that will help shape a future of thriving, Earth-positive businesses. It was a pleasure to sit down with Nick Studer during the week to reflect on where we are and what still needs to happen.
