It’s great that research from Edinburgh Climate Change Institute has found that heat networks can deliver broader value beyond carbon savings. By connecting homes to low-carbon heat networks and improving insulation this approach helps to cut emissions, improve public health and wellbeing and support a fair, more resilient transition.
We recently commissioned research through the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute (ECCI) to explore the co-benefits of introducing heat networks and energy efficiency measures in local communities. The findings highlight substantial environmental and social value that could be realised across Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian over the next 25 years - well beyond carbon savings alone. Our Account Director, Ben Carter, shared his thoughts: "This research shows the real-world impact of warm homes and clean air. Heat networks are not just about cutting carbon — they also support fairer, healthier communities. With the right coordination and investment, developing heat networks can help deliver a just transition that benefits everyone.” We hope this report offers valuable insight into the broader potential of heat networks to support more resilient, equitable communities. 👉 Read the full report and key findings here: https://lnkd.in/ewGrrSsS
