Fantastic to welcome the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan at our summer reception this evening alongside our host Arcadis.   Sir Sadiq talked through the importance of the public and private sectors working together to ensure the capital remains the best place in the world in which to do business. He also thanked BusinessLDN for its work in campaigning to create the role of the Mayoralty 25 years ago and build a better, fairer and more prosperous city.   The Mayor outlined why London is now uniquely placed to attract inward investment, as it offers the "certainty and stability that is absent elsewhere", and made the case for backing major transport projects in the capital to ensure it continues to be an engine of UK-wide growth.    Also great to hear about next steps for the London Growth Plan, set to put "rocket boosters" under the city's economy over the months ahead.   Peter Hogg reflected on the GLA's many successes as it celebrates its 25th anniversary, including Transport for London's "pioneering" work, as the authority continues to be essential to maintaining the capital's reputation as the "world's greatest city."   Our Chief Executive John Dickie called for London to be unleashed so that it can deliver and drive growth, while urging the Government to consign speculation about a wealth tax "to the scrapheap."   Our Deputy CEO Muniya Barua highlighted how our close working relationship with the Mayor and the Greater London Authority is a win-win, helping to deliver some major wins for the capital including a new long-term funding settlement for TfL, ensuring HS2 reaches Euston and deliver a new City Hall Developer.    And finally, our Chair Sir Kenneth Olisa gave reasons to be positive about London’s present and future - seeking to dispel the myth that the UK is unable to build infrastructure.   Huge thanks to all who attended - keep an eye out for upcoming events over the rest of the summer and beyond 🚀

Arcadianiseren… #ImprovingQualityOfLife

NSW's energy transition is underway, with the state's last coal-fired power plant set to retire by 2038, marking a significant shift in the energy landscape. Meanwhile, Sydney’s energy demand is surging—and will only grow as the city’s population expands. This raises an urgent question: How will Sydney meet its energy demands while achieving net-zero targets? The answer may already be within reach. A recent report from Committee for Sydney, Arup, and #Arcadis unveils a bold vision: transforming Sydney into a renewable energy zone (REZ). Our research reveals a surprising opportunity. By harnessing the power of rooftops across metropolitan Sydney, the city could generate up to 75% of its energy needs—all from solar. Imagine shifting from reliance on distant coal-fired plants to a local, distributed network of solar-powered homes, commercial buildings, and community batteries. And here’s the exciting part: Sydney’s existing distribution grid is already in place to support this transformation. This report outlines six key recommendations to make it happen. Discover how #Sydney can lead the way in the energy transition and become a global model for renewable cities. • Did you know… Salay Prayzaan – the Métis Crossing Solar Project – is a 4.86 MW community solar installation that fully powers the Otipemisiwak Métis Nation’s government buildings? This Indigenous-led project generates clean energy equivalent to powering about 1,200 homes and offsets roughly 4,700 tonnes of greenhous gas emissions each year. It also supports a local sustainability fund and Métis workforce training programs. Arcadis is proud to have supported this transformative initiative from feasibility through delivery. We're thrilled that Salay Prayzaan was named winner in the Energy category at the 34ᵗʰ Annual Emerald Awards for Environmental Excellence. Congratulations to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Smoky Lake County, and the Town of Smoky Lake for this well-deserved recognition. https://arcad.is/q9lGO8 #DidYouKnow #TransformativeSolutions #RenewableEnergy

We’re thrilled to see the Sydney Gateway project recognised at the 2025 CCF NSW | Civil Contractors Federation NSW Earth Awards. #Arcadis, in joint venture with AECOM (AAJV), provided detailed design and construction phase services for this landmark infrastructure project. As one of the most technically complex road designs in Australia - located near vital port, road and air freight corridors - Sydney Gateway posed unique engineering challenges. The new route significantly improves freight movement while also offering more reliable journeys for everyday travellers. Congratulations to Transport for NSW, John Holland and Seymour Whyte.

Three Transport infrastructure projects have been recognised at the 2025 CCF NSW | Civil Contractors Federation NSW Earth Awards. Congratulations to our teams and their delivery partners who will now represent NSW in their respective categories at the 2025 Civil Contractors Federation National Earth Awards in Canberra in late November. The highest honour in the NSW construction industry, the awards celebrate excellence in civil construction throughout the project life cycle. Congratulations to the teams involved in: • Sydney Gateway Stage 1 and 3 (Winner - Project value $150 million and over). Delivered ahead of schedule and on budget, the Sydney Gateway project provides a toll-free connection between the Sydney Airport precinct and the wider motorway network. During nearly four years of construction, as well as prior design and planning phases, the team, together with Joint Venture partner John Holland Seymour Whyte, navigated numerous challenges associated with working around Australia’s largest transport and utility infrastructure, whilst also delivering significant economic and social outcomes. • Nelligen Bridge replacement (Winner - Project value $75-150 million). A key element of the Kings Highway tourism route between Batemans Bay and Canberra, the Nelligen Bridge replacement improved safety and travel times and enhanced community amenities around the Clyde River foreshore. Alongside delivery partners Seymour Whyte the team worked in a sensitive marine park environment to build the new bridge and remove the original 1960s structure without any major issues or environmental impacts. • Kamay Wharves (Winner - People's Choice Award). Opened in March 2025, the Kamay Wharves offer berthing facilities, future ferry connections, and safe fishing areas. The project also minimised environmental impacts and recognised the area's cultural significance to Aboriginal people. Alongside delivery partners McConnell Dowell, the team showed dedication and diligence whilst working in an environmentally sensitive and culturally significant location. #CivilContractorsFederation #EarthAwards2025 #TransportforNSW #Recognition
