❓ What happens when a teenager turns to an AI chatbot for help with a school project ❓ 🎥 Meet Mia: a journey into the digital unknown of AI ❗ 💻 In UNICRI’s new animated short, launched at the AI For Good Global Summit, we follow Mia as she explores how generative AI works and what it can and can’t do. 🌈 Through this colourful digital adventure, Mia learns to ask better questions, think critically, and understand the difference between tool and human. 🔎 The video introduces key AI concepts like: 🔸 large language models 🔸 bias and hallucinations 🔸 digital safety 🤖 Directed by Ricardo Megre, the film premiered at the AI for Good Film Festival, followed by a powerful panel with UNICEF, Bracket Foundation and UNICRI. 🎙️ During the panel discussion, Irakli Beridze, Head of UNICRI’s Centre for AI and Robotics, highlighted that while AI is powerful, it’s not human and children must learn about its limitations, like bias and hallucinations, just as they learn to use a calculator at school. 🎙️ Yalda Aoukar of the Bracket Foundation emphasised that children are growing up as native AI users, while many parents are struggling to keep up. To close this gap, she stressed the importance of open, frequent conversations about digital risks, just as we teach children to stay safe in the physical world. 📌 Part of the AI Literacy for Children project, supported by The Walt Disney Company, the video helps spark meaningful conversations about AI among adolescents and families. ▶️ https://bit.ly/3GNLGJr #AIforGood #AIliteracy #GenerativeAI #DigitalEducation #YouthVoices Maria Eira, Emma Persson, Inês Gonçalves Ferreira, Odhran McCarthy, Roshni Deepta Acharya, Volha P., Inna Kotova, Stephen McNamara, David Haddad.

One week ago, I proudly graduated from the LL.M. in Transnational Crime and Justice, a joint program offered by UNICRI - United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute and University for Peace (UPEACE) - UN Mandated. This unique experience deepened my understanding of international law through a rich combination of academic study and hands-on learning. I had the opportunity to engage directly with professionals and scholars across various fields of international law and gain valuable insights that will help shape my future path. A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Mihir Kanade and Nicolò Bussolati , whose mentorship has been truly inspiring for me. Their commitment to the academic and personal growth of their students reinforced my conviction that this is the direction I want to pursue, and that I can make a meaningful contribution to the prevention and repression of transnational crimes. I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to learn alongside colleagues from diverse academic backgrounds, each bringing fresh viewpoints to the table. A special thanks to Giulia Ceccotti , Alessia Vincelli and Beatrice Sanna, whose friendship, encouragement, and support made this intense journey even more meaningful. The program’s multicultural environment allowed me to collaborate with professionals from all over the world. A particular highlight was taking part in a Moot Court simulation, alongside my group members Cecilia Delfini , Ann Auerbach, and Cristina Githmy, under the guidance of our coordinator, Nobuo Hayashi . I would also like to sincerely thank Ivana Roagna for her dedication in organizing the course activities and for making it possible for us to learn from such distinguished professionals. This LL.M. has further fueled my passion for police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters, an area I am determined to keep exploring both academically and professionally. I’m truly thankful for this incredible opportunity. With this chapter now complete, I look forward to the next steps, ready to apply what I’ve learned and contribute where I can. The journey continues, and I truly believe that the best is yet to come.
