During a recent meeting in Abidjan, CEO Claudio Descalzi and President Alassane Ouattara discussed key energy and sustainability initiatives under way in the country. Baleine was a core focus: with all its gas production serving the local market, the project plays a vital role in strengthening energy access and enabling industrial development. Also on the agenda: four new exploration contracts signed in November 2024, the Calao discovery, and the expansion of local supply chains for sustainable agricultural raw materials for biorefining. We continue to strengthen our partnership with PETRONAS to support energy security and the energy transition in Southeast Asia. During a meeting between our CEO Claudio Descalzi, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim and PETRONAS President and Group CEO T Muhammad Taufik, we confirmed the progress of the business combination involving our upstream assets in Indonesia and Malaysia. The new independent and self-financed entity is fully aligned with our satellite model and long-term growth strategy. With our new plant in Loudima, industrial-scale vegetable oil production for Enilive’s biorefineries expands to a new country, supporting both our sustainable mobility approach and rural development in the Republic of the Congo. The facility will produce up to 30,000 tonnes of RED-certified vegetable oil per year, using oil crops grown on degraded and underutilised land through regenerative agriculture methods developed with local stakeholders. This milestone strengthens the vertical biofuel supply chain and supports our strategy to decarbonise hard-to-abate transport sectors. At the same time, it fosters local development: around 200 machines, improved seeds and tailored training programmes will benefit 400 tractor operators and drive new skills in agriculture, logistics and industrial processes.
