Summer holidays may be around the corner, but the Open Food Facts community continues to transform the food landscape by turning prices into #opendata ! The summer has melted its way in ☀️😎 and so has the coolest Open Prices community challenge yet! This time, we're scooping up contributors to help collect prices on some summer essentials. With the sun blazing and the heat rising, the hot (and cold!) topics are: 🧴 Sunscreens – because no one wants to burn out on data 🍦 Ice creams – let’s chill while we check the prices 🍧 Sorbets – a refreshing way to contribute Use the Open Food Facts app to join the fun (link in comments): 📲 Scan a product 📉 Scroll to the “Prices” panel 💸 Tap “Add a price” 📸 Snap a proof (shelf tag or receipt) and a few other data. We are one of the 62 selected projects! 💰 Open Prices is the first open database of food prices collected through crowdsourcing. That’s where Open Food Facts (OFF) comes in as a pioneering non-profit transforming how we understand what’s on our plate. With a global database of over 3 million food products built by 20,000+ contributors, OFF is crowdsourcing the future of food transparency. Whether you’re scanning a barcode, uploading label info, or reusing open data to build tools, this team is making food knowledge a public good. But OFF isn’t stopping at nutrition facts. In #FOODTURE, they’re stirring up innovation by: 🥫Leading the development of an open-access tool that helps manufacturers assess the environmental footprint of their products. 🥫Providing eco-design simulations and packaging suggestions for food producers. 🥫Working on the exploitation strategy to ensure project results live beyond the final report.
