We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jean Grenier, Eutelsat’s first Director General and a widely regarded founding figure of our company, at the age of 89. An engineer and visionary leader, Jean Grenier played a pivotal role in shaping Eutelsat’s identity and global influence. Under his leadership from 1989 to 1998, Eutelsat evolved into a major player in direct-to-home satellite television, laying the foundations for our growth as one of the world’s leading satellite communications operators. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to work alongside him.

Another significant step for Eutelsat Group and for European space collaboration. Today, we announced that His Majesty’s Government will join our capital increase alongside our core shareholders, bringing the total raise to €1.5 billion. This renewed commitment from the UK is a powerful endorsement of Eutelsat’s unique role as an operator rooted in both France and the UK, with a fully operational low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation serving governments, enterprises, and communities around the world. The UK has been a mainstay of OneWeb since its inception, and of Eutelsat’s LEO journey ever since our merger. Their continued support underscores a shared conviction that secure, resilient connectivity is not only a technological imperative but a strategic and sovereign capability for Europe. I am proud that Eutelsat Group embodies this spirit of partnership. With our differentiated GEO-LEO infrastructure and our active participation in the IRIS² programme, we remain committed to delivering the innovation, scale and reliability that Europe’s future in space demands. My thanks to the UK Government and all our anchor shareholders for their continued trust and belief in our mission.

Eutelsat Group and SRG SSR renew long-term partnership, assuring broadcast continuity across Switzerland 🤝 We’re proud to announce the renewal of our multi-year capacity agreement with SRG SSR, Switzerland’s public broadcaster, further cementing a partnership that has spanned more than 30 years. This agreement ensures broadcast continuity for SRG SSR’s High-Definition television channels and radio stations to audiences across Switzerland, including those living beyond the reach of terrestrial networks. From RTS and SRF to RSI channels, millions of viewers will continue to access high-quality programming via our HOTBIRD satellites at 13° East - one of Europe and MENA’s most powerful and far-reaching video neighbourhoods. Satellite remains essential for connecting communities in Switzerland, especially in remote and mountainous regions where laying terrestrial infrastructure can be complex and disruptive. Aymeric Genty, President of Eutelsat’s Video Business Unit, commented: “We are honoured that SRG SSR, Switzerland’s public broadcaster, is continuing to rely on Eutelsat to deliver its leading entertainment offering to millions of homes across Switzerland and further afield. "This new agreement enables audiences to continue receiving their favourite channels, no matter how remote their location, and highlights the crucial role satellite continues to play in connecting communities and delivering essential services.” Find out more about this agreement on our website at ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/efCbzp5S
