The 2025 #AIIBannualmeeting brought together cutting-edge infrastructure technology experts, investors, and innovators to discuss strategic investment approaches and effective methods for commercializing and scaling technological innovations. With insightful contributions from Keppel Ltd., Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Tencent, panelists examined successful collaborative frameworks that foster partnerships, accelerate technology adoption, and promote scalability. 🌆 Transforming Cities, Strengthening Partnerships🇨🇳 Last week I had the pleasure of visiting #Guizhou Province, where I spent time on the ground engaging with local leaders and reviewing progress on one of AIIB’s most important urban initiatives in #China - the Liupanshui Smart Urban Transformation Demonstration Project. Our intention was: ✅ To deepen collaboration with provincial and municipal officials, and ✅ To get a close-up look at how the Liupanshui Project is shaping sustainable and resilient urban infrastructure. In #Guiyang, I had a meaningful exchange with Mr. Huaqing Shi, Vice Chairman of the Guizhou Provincial CPPCC and Director General of the Department of Finance. We discussed ways to strengthen our partnership from smart urban infrastructure to renewable energy and digital innovation. In #Liupanshui City, I visited four active project sites and met with local leadership, including Party Secretary Mr. Dingchao Zhang and Executive Vice Mayor Mr. Kan Zang, along with representatives from the Department of Finance and Development and Reform Commission. Their support and commitment to this project were evident throughout the visit. The Liupanshui Project is AIIB’s first comprehensive urban development initiative in China. It is aimed at: ✅ Enhancing urban mobility; ✅ Improving resilience in water systems; ✅ Expanding digital infrastructure; ✅ Advancing carbon management and decarbonization. Since 2018, I’ve had the privilege of leading AIIB’s investment operations in China. I’m deeply grateful for the strong, growing collaboration with our host country and founding member. It’s an honor to contribute to the advancement of sustainable infrastructure and to see our mission taking shape in cities like Liupanshui. I look forward to continuing this journey with our partners in Guizhou and beyond. Viet Nam’s rapid urbanization and economic growth have driven demand for transport, increasing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. Transitioning to cleaner transport options, such as EVs and enhanced public transit, is key to: ✅Reducing environmental impacts ✅Improving public health ✅Meeting climate goals. AIIB and Viet Nam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) have signed a USD100-million on-lending facility to promote sustainable infrastructure development and support climate mitigation efforts in Viet Nam. Despite strong public-sector spending, the country also faces a substantial infrastructure financing gap. 📰𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | AIIB has successfully returned to China’s onshore bond market with its first 2-year Panda Bond, raising CNY2 billion and achieving record demand and investor diversification, including 12 new investors and central banks engaging with the onshore market for the first time. Highlights: ▪️3.2x oversubscribed (CNY6.4 billion in orders) ▪️Tightest spread in 3 years: +7bps over CDB bonds ▪️57.5% allocated to offshore investors ▪️Participation from 30+ accounts, including commercial banks, central banks, and insurers This issuance deepens our investor base and underscores our commitment to developing local capital markets and mobilizing sustainable finance in Asia.
