1953 or 2025? “Soon, we shall have to reply to the calls for assistance from those who depend upon us for their survival: ‘We are sorry, but we cannot help you any longer.’ This must not be allowed to happen.” This was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in 1953. Today, that call still echoes. Our mission hasn’t changed. But funding cuts mean thousands of families forced to flee may not get the support they need. This letter is history and it’s also a warning. Help us ensure it doesn’t become today’s reality. We continue to count on the solidarity of donors, institutions and individuals. Because no one should have to face displacement alone – not then, not now.

While it’s missing from the headlines, the crisis in eastern DR Congo is far from over. People are still fleeing, still suffering, still hoping for peace. Here’s what you need to know.
