🏕️Wound Training Camp – A Canadian first! In June, the Fondation URGO hosted its very first Wound Training Camp in Canada, in Toronto. More than 60 healthcare professionals joined a full day of hands-on training on wound cleansing and debridement, led by expert trainers Christie Cowan Kimberly Hoggard, RN, NSWOC, WOCC (C) Karen Laforet grounded in the latest international guidelines. 🩺 Clinicians, wound experts, NSWOCs, and registered nurses attended with their care teams to help bring best practices back to their facilities. 💡 In Canada, the cost of wound-related care has risen to $12 billion per year, up from $8 billion in 2019 (Wounds Canada 2024). Health authorities are calling for more training, standardized protocols, and evidence-based approaches to reduce infections and improve healing outcomes. ✅ One more camp is coming after summer in a new province — and many more to come in 2026! 📢 Starting tomorrow: top 3 tips from the trainers and feedback from participants. This year’s theme is innovation, and it is at the heart of Urgo’s identity. Each year, Urgo invests €33 million in research, with a team of 200 R&D experts and 15 patents filed annually, fueling solutions that reshape clinical practice and improve patients lives. One of today’s key highlights is Emily Woodgate’s session on rewriting the standards in wound cleansing, based on her practice as pediatric nurse and the new IWII guidelines on therapeutic cleansing.
