The cable deck of the OSS Jasmund jacket has been successfully installed, the final key component to complete the jacket’s final shape. With a total load-out weight of around 4,500 metric tonnes and a top height of 72 metres, this giant jacket now proudly defines the skyline of Vlissingen! The cable deck itself weighs 842 metric tonnes. It was built in two halves at our yard in Hoboken, welded together in Vlissingen, and fully outfitted before being lifted into place. The IJburg Bridges project has been awarded the Construsoft BIM Award in the Infrastructure Projects category! For the development of the IJburg district in Amsterdam, Smulders built the two remarkable steel bridges. Yesterday marked an exciting step forward for Europe’s energy transition! At the HSM Offshore Energy BV yard in Schiedam, the first steel was officially cut for the HVAC infrastructure of Belgium’s Princess Elisabeth offshore energy hub, the world’s first artificial energy island.   This milestone kicks off the construction of high-voltage substations and a facility module that will form the backbone of the island’s AC transmission system, directly supporting the transport of at least 2.1 GW of offshore wind energy to the Belgian mainland.   Built by the Belgian-Dutch consortium HSI Pemac, consisting of HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders and Iv, this project exemplifies international collaboration, technical excellence, and long-term commitment to renewable energy. HSI Pemac was awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract by Elia, Belgium’s national transmission system operator, which is part of Elia Group.    Full press release at https://lnkd.in/edF3_F8f
