💡 Did you know Australia’s coastal buoys help predict marine conditions for over 25,000 km of shoreline? 🛰️ For many years, we’ve been proud to support the Bureau of Meteorology through the #Argos system, initially delivering SVP (Surface Velocity and Pressure) data to assist with ocean monitoring and marine forecasts. Today, that collaboration continues to grow. 🌊 CLS Oceania, is responsible for servicing and maintaining a number of BOM’s wave buoys around Australia. These buoys are essential for ensuring public safety along Australia’s coasts—providing oceanographic data used in daily forecasts, alerts, and long-term research. To further reinforce this critical infrastructure, we’ve recently integrated Argos backup trackers on several of these platforms, ensuring continuous, reliable data transmission under all conditions. 📡 And with Kinéis connectivity now enhancing our Argos services with 15-minute revisit times and increased data capacity, we’re proud to help deliver the next generation of ocean insights from space. From marine professionals to everyday coastal users, Australians rely on this data to make safe decisions. 🌊🛰️ CLS Oceania at UNOC 2025 | Driving fisheries innovation in the Pacific At the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) in Nice, France, our CEO Guan Oon had the honour of participating in an official side event focused on a global challenge with strong local implications: modernising and supporting small-scale fisheries. Our Pacific Islands are home to thousands of artisanal fishers who rely on the ocean for their livelihoods, food security, and cultural identity. But these communities are increasingly at risk due to climate change, limited connectivity, and safety hazards at sea. 🔹 As a mission-driven company committed to working for all SDGs, particularly SDG14, and a global leader in sustainable fisheries and provider of space-based solutions for responsible, sustainable, and ecosystem-friendly fishing, we develop technologies adapted to local needs. Our solar-powered NEMO beacons and maritime IoT systems offer: • real-time traditional vessel tracking to improve safety at sea, • reliable geolocation and catch data to support marine management, • insights that inform public policy, conservation planning, and compliance. 📍 CLS Oceania supports one of the flagship initiatives showcased at the UNOC side event: the national-scale deployment of the NEMO system in Papua New Guinea, in partnership with the National Fisheries Authority (NFA). Through this ambitious program: • hundreds of artisanal vessels are being equipped with smart beacons, • communities in 15 maritime provinces are now connected for the first time, • local fishers are empowered with tools for safety, autonomy, and participation in national monitoring systems. 🤝 This field success is the result of years of collaboration, cultural adaptation, and trust-building between CLS Oceania, the NFA, and coastal communities reinforcing resilience. 🌍 The UNOC side event gathered a coalition of committed international stakeholders: • DGAMPA - Affaires maritimes, pêche et aquaculture (France): public policy for artisanal fisheries • Fondation de la Mer: marine advocacy and awareness • WildAid & WWF Mediterranean Marine Initiative: co-management • FAO: inclusive governance and food security • Coopérative Sathoan (France): producers' organisation using digital traceability tools • Kinéis: European space IoT connectivity provider • National Fisheries Authority (PNG): strategic partner in the field • And of course, our CLS Group: delivering cutting-edge, field-proven, and scalable space-based technological solutions for sustainable #smallscalefisheries. 📣 Supporting innovation in the Pacific means staying close to the field, working consistently alongside those who know the ocean best, to codevelop practical tools that make a real difference. 🎯 From the coasts of PNG to the outer islands of the Pacific, the future of fisheries is already being shaped, with satellites, trust, and shared stewardship. #saveourocean #UNOC3 #UNOC2025 #sustainablefisheries #fishingsafety
