What does being successful at work look like as AI tools improve and get increasingly integrated into our lives?
I don’t envision most workers losing their jobs to AIs. But I do envision many workers who don’t embrace AI being replaced by other humans leveraging the latest technology to do their jobs more effectively. That’s part of why I think that all business schools—and, more broadly, all schools looking to prepare students for the future of work—should be teaching classes on managing agents. Whether you’re an individual contributor, a manager, or a founder, your job description should soon (if it doesn't already) include management of AIs.
I also think that the mega investments that hyperscalers like Google, Meta, and OpenAI have been making to bring on AI talent isn’t crazy; we’re in an environment where certain people are poised to bring companies billions, maybe even trillions, in value.
