There is a lot of talk about Government departments re-considering their decision to choose arbitration. I will be speaking later today in a Conference organised by the Ministry of Law and Justice, India International Arbitration Centre (IIAC) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) to consider whether choosing Institutional Arbitration can address the very legitimate concerns of the government now considering giving up on arbitration. I will be a moderating a panel featuring key representatives from PSUs including Amit Jindal (Department of Hydrocarbons), Sandhya Yadav (ONGC), Smitha Sehgal (Engineers India Ltd) and members of the arbitration community Hasit SETH FCIArb FICA and Sidharth Sethi where we will be discussing steps we can take in practice in arbitration to make it more time and cost effective. We will also consider the role of technology, and offerings like document management and transcription (which some of you may know is a pet project of mine through TERES ). #arbitration #PSU #efficiency #technology
We are pleased to share that the Conference on Institutional Arbitration: An Effective Framework for Dispute Resolution will be streamed live on the *YouTube* and *Facebook* social media handles of the Department of Legal Affairs.
