🔥 Incredible step forward - not just for Mistral, but for Europe’s AI sovereignty as a whole. Building the infraestructure layer signals long-term commitment, not just to model performance, but to ecosystem resilience. Kinda excited to see how this shapes the global AI stack 🍿

Congratulations Mistral AI, great and daring initiative to integrate vertically into the Insfrastructure domain. While the sovereignty argument is certainly one to promote in the French and European market at some point, I would not make it my first claim, at the risk of falling into the « sovereignty trap » (eg « I only use Mistral if the topic is confidential secret, otherwise I stick to larger US solutions »). I am sure you can build an offer that will first appeal to any company in the world and, as a secondary benefit, avoid geopolitical hassles for European CEOs/CDOs/CIOs (just like today, US companies don’t think of AWS, Azure or OpenAI primarily as sovereign companies).

Excellent work

Arthur Mensch, why is it not called Mistral Cloud, if the goal is to compete with Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)? Cloud has compute, analytics, storage, security, and networking services. Why do you call it Mistral Compute? This is a powerful move. Infrastructure is often overlooked in public AI conversations, but it’s the backbone of everything we build. As someone architecting GenAI systems on Microsoft’s stack (Copilot Studio + Azure AI Foundry), I’m closely watching how offerings like Mistral Compute will shape performance, fine-tuning pipelines, and edge-to-cloud inference strategies—especially for European deployments. The next era isn’t just about what models we use—but where and how we run them.
