Beyond the thermal insulation of buildings, the techniques to reduce emissions are well known: smart management systems to optimize consumption by more than 30%, installation of solar panels, development of shallow geothermal energy... Replacing gas boilers with heat pumps also allows for a 75% reduction in CO₂ emissions. Widely developed in the Netherlands, ATES (Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage) is used to heat 96% of buildings over 5,000 m². It could also benefit France, where nearly 50% of the energy produced is devoted to heat.
