I have been appointed a Senior Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School My area of focus will be #cryptoassets, #blockchain and associated policy. I developed an interest in digital assets in 2017 intrigued by the then boom in initial coin offerings (#ICOs) mimicking traditional IPOs seemingly outside of any regulatory framework. This interest remained an academic one until I took advantage of an opportunity to make blockchain and digital assets part of my professional life while at JPMorganChase during the pandemic, a journey Elizabeth Lumley kindly chronicled for The Banker in 2023 (https://lnkd.in/ehMukRHr). Three years ago, I jumped fully into the digital assets ecosystem and it has been a fascinating ride working with and advising companies and investors building the future, co-founding The Digital Economy Initiative with Toby Norfolk-Thompson to work with experts from different fields to develop proposals for common sense pro-innovation crypto regulation in the US and UK and venturing into academia. With the Genius Act passing the Senate in June and expectations that it will also pass in the House of Representatives this quarter, US federal banking and markets agencies promoting a pro-innovation agenda and the UK markets regulator incorporating its new secondary objective requirements to take the UK's international competitiveness into account as it finalizes its regulatory framework for crypto, I enthusiastically look forward to continuing to work with companies building in the digital assets space while working to add to the body of scholarship in the digital assets space at Harvard.
