Did you know a car has more than 300,000 parts? Optimizing such a complex system requires stepwise #innovation, and that’s exactly what Dimitar Filev of Texas A&M University's Hagler Institute for Advanced Study has achieved. His pioneering work in #AI, #FuzzyLogic, and intelligent control systems has transformed modern #vehicles—making them safer, smarter, and more adaptive. As a Senior Ford Motor Company Technical Fellow (retired) and National Academy of Engineering member, his contributions have reshaped the #automotive intelligence landscape, from #neural systems to real-time decision-making in vehicles. Congratulations to him on his 2025 IEEE Lotfi A. Zadeh Award for #EmergingTechnologies, sponsored by #IEEESMC, for technical leadership and pioneering contributions to emerging automotive intelligent control and information systems: https://lnkd.in/eBnxVnEp #IEEEAwards2025

An incredible colleague and collaborator. So honored to have had the opportunity to work with Dimitar. He is always contributing to Science and engineering and to the colleagues and students he mentors. So glad he is enjoying retirement.

It is rare to find someone who is as highly accomplished and yet so humble as Dimitar Filev. I was so impressed with his cutting-edge work which he was so passionate about. Congratulations, Dimitar! So well deserved. I miss our one-on-ones and your drive and passion to make the world a better place.

Delighted to note this recognition and I am sure the late and great Lotfi Zadeh would be very proud of this award going to Dimitar Filev - I remember the time when Prof. Zadeh was hosted by Dimtar at Ford. Dimitar has the ability to frame and address industrial scale problems in manufacturing or more generally controls like few others I have known - it goes without saying that Dimitar attracts the very best to come together and work together to solve those daunting industrial-scale problems so the rest of never have to realize those problems ever existed. Congratulations, Dimitar! -Prasad
