Amid the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and the brutal attacks, the Ukraine Recovery Conference #URC2025 🇺🇦 in Rome urges the international community to strengthen the support to Ukraine’s resilience, recovery, and future reconstruction. As German Chancellor Merz stated in his opening speech: “To rebuild a war-torn country, it needs strong partners and international support.” The first the day was packed with partnership announcements ✨ and bilateral dialogues 🤝 out of which the following ones where among the outstanding for me: The new #TeamEurope Initiative #EU4Reconstruction – was launched at URC, funded by EU 🇪🇺, Germany 🇩🇪, France 🇫🇷, Denmark 🇩🇰 and Lithuania 🇱🇹. The initiative will deliver on effective, transparent, and inclusive reconstruction, being implemented jointly by GIZ and Expertise France, as well as Denmark and Lithuania. Building on Ukraine’s war-torn economy, the multi-donor partnership #STEPIn2EU – an initiative aimed to strengthen Ukraine’s private sector and economic integration into the European Union – was announced by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Commission, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs 🇳🇴, and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. GIZ will serve as the implementing agency and facilitator of this important programme. Reem Alabali Radovan Yulia Svyrydenko, Katarina Mathernova, Cecilie T. Myrseth, Christian Syse Established at last year’s URC in Berlin, the #SkillsAlliance has become a key driver of Ukraine’s workforce development – addressing war-induced labour shortage while advancing #EUintegration, inclusion, and #genderequality. GIZ runs #Skills4Recovery as the alliance’s flagship programme. GIZ is happy to welcome Denmark as a new partner to Skills4Recovery. Tetyana Berezhna, Elsebeth Søndergaard Krone    To strengthen Ukraine’s energy security, the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie provides funding to EIB. Joining forces at URC, GIZ will be a key partner for European Investment Bank (EIB) to support war-affected municipalities to unlock infrastructure investments for renewable energies. Marta Kos, Teresa Czerwińska, Oleksii Kuleba, Olga Zykova, Eva Kracht   A cornerstone of Ukraine’s resilience is a strong voice of civil society. Today, GIZ initiated a new partnership with Robert Bosch Stiftung to support Foundations for Ukraine – an international platform for foundations and philanthropists committed to supporting Ukraine. Markus Lux   URC2025 is about empowering people, communities, and partnerships. #StandwithUkraine
