Master design fidelity in prototyping
- Let's take a moment and talk about fidelity. Fidelity refers to the degree of completeness of the user interface, interactivity and flows. Fidelity can refer to the visual appearance, but also prototype functionality. Low fidelity prototypes have their place in the design process. Staying low fidelity is a good way to focus on getting the interactions in the flow correct without being overly concerned about the visual representation. An example of when you may want to use a low fidelity approach is when you're in the early phase of interviewing your users and you have some ideas of the problems you want to solve, but you want to get feedback before going too far into the idea. In this case, sketching out some high level ideas and putting them in front of users is a great way to get feedback and track their reactions.
