- Nowadays, choosing where to ask a question can ironically create even more questions than you originally intended. With social media websites and Q&A sites like Quora, Reddit, and Wikihow, it's very easy to log in and start asking people questions to your heart's content. But that doesn't mean you should. Regardless of whether it's online or in person, whether you're on a date or interviewing for a job, there's some universal rules you should consider before speaking or pressing Send on that email. First, know what you want. Often, it's not clear to you or others what it is exactly that you're in need of. So take the time. Learn or discover exactly what you want. Secondly, you have to actually ask for it. It sounds simple, right? But people can't read your mind, so don't ask them to. 100% of the time, you get 100% of your efforts.
