Using patterns in extractor explanations
- [Instructor] Let's look at our next bit of information that we want to extract, the change date. Now, in this case, it's still a phrase, but it's a phrase where there might be some variation. The date might be entered as shown here, month/day/year with four digits. But what if only the last two digits of the year is shown, or if it's hyphens instead of slashes, or if the month of the name is spelled out long form, like November 5th, 2019. The good news is that Syntex can be flexible in these circumstances using what's known as patterns. Let's step through so I can show you what I mean. We'll start a new extractor, and that will be the Date affected. By the way, for this extractor, we want to go into the Advanced settings when we're creating it, and change the column type to date and time. This will ensure that our library column in the end result SharePoint library displays correctly. We'll label our training files as before, four positives and one negative, which we'll mark as not…
